Overall Rating
My interest in research brought me here. I also have interest in Chemistry. NIRF ranking of this Institute in Chemistry department and overall is also great, so I decided to take admission here. It is very green and has huge campus. In addition, we do not need to study extra subjects to get admission here, as only PCMB subjects are enough.
 

Academics Rating
Currently, I am in first year. I thought to take Chemistry as my major subject, because of my interest in Organic and Quantum Chemistry. You can also enroll here if you have interest in Natural Science. Entry requirement is that you need to give IAT exam.
At the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Kolkata, fee for 5-year degree is around Rs. 5,00,000/- to Rs. 7,00,000/- laces including all facilities and hostel, for ST and SC category student.
 

Faculty Rating
Professors here have great qualifications and great teaching experience. Teaching assistants are also very friendly and will solve all your doubts. Some professors like to teach on blackboards and some are with PPTs. They have their office timings in which you can meet and share your problems with them. If you have doubt, they take it seriously and solve your problem. I personally have good bonding with almost all the professors and TAs.
 

Placement Rating
Placement Cell of the Institute can be better. One of the reasons for its average placements can be that most of students opt this Institute with the purpose to pursue Ph.D in future.
 

Hostel Rating
IISER Kolkata has 3 hostels i.e., ‘Nivedita hostel’, ‘NSCB hostel’, and ‘ICV Hostel’. Hostel facilities are quite good actually. Mess food is good as well. There are no in and out timings.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The Institute has a big lecture hall complexes and a huge research complex. It is 60 KMs away from Kolkata city. Classrooms have enough capacity to seats. Academic facilities like library, labs, seminar hall, huge auditorium, etc. We have night canteen, almost ground for all the groups.
 

Campus Rating
My overall campus life experience is good. Institute has around 2000 to 3000 students. Institute has many clubs & you will not get bored. I am in Drama club. We have a huge fest (3-days long) named 'Inquest'.

    Overall the institute is good you should join IISER only if you are interested in research field. I want to pursue Mathematics as my major and do a Ph.D in Math that is why I came here.
