College Review on Assam Engineering College

Overall Rating
There is enough greenery around the campus. The teachers are knowledgeable, kind and friendly. Seniors are very helpful and I made some really good friends here. The annual fest - Pyrokinesis is very enjoyable. Also tech fest like Tech Axom and Udhbhavanum are held which provides students a good platform to showcase their distinct talents. Campus placements are also great. Overall, you get quality education and a good experience in this college at affordable rates. But you have to appear in CEE exam and selection is done on the basis of CEE rank.
 

Academics Rating
Assam Engineering College offers 8 different branches - Computer Science, Electronics & Telecommunication, Electrical, Instrumentation, Chemical, Mechanical, Industrial & Production, and Civil. You get selected on the basis of your CEE rank and your branch preference. You must score above the cut-off rank in order to get admission in your preferred branch.
 

Faculty Rating
There is more than one teacher for a particular subject. And the most of the time each teacher takes classes of a particular module. The faculty members are very eligible and good. They are highly qualified and capable of teaching their subject in a way that resonates with the students. Each department also collects feedbacks and reviews of their faculty members at the end of each semester.
 

Placement Rating
Assam Engineering College also has a placement cell - Training and Placement cell. Each year numerous students from each branch get hired by different companies through campus placements.
 

Hostel Rating
We have total 9 hostels - 8 boys’ hostels and 1 girl’s hostel. A separate hostel is provided for the1st year boys to avoid ragging and bullying from seniors. Also many pgs are also available inside the campus. But it is way cheaper to stay in hostel. The food offered by the hostels has variety and is actually tasty most of the time. The hostel rooms and washrooms are kept clean. Hostel infrastructure in decent. Hostel feasts are also held on monthly basis.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college infrastructure is decent at best and there is plenty of room for improvement. Most of the branches and departments have their separate blocks. There is a Library inside Chemical Engineering department building. A canteen is also present. The food is quite cheap there. MSSC block is present above canteen. ATM and bank is also there inside the campus. Students can buy essential goods from AEC market.
 

Campus Rating
The college has a variety of clubs and students can join the clubs as per their domain of interests. Various club activities are held by all different clubs. Multiple tech fests like Tech axom and Udhbhavanum also held annually. Also, the annual fest, Pyrokinesis is very popular as it invites well known and entertaining artists.

    My overall experience until now in Assam Engineering College is nice. It is an first engineering college of Northeast inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru ji. The faculty, the teaching quality is also nice and the placement of this college is also nice comparatively to the other engineering college of Assam other than IIT and NIT.     Assam Engineering College is one of the oldest Engineering college in the entire north east established in 1956 by Jawaharlal Nehru. The college is situated in Guwahati Jalukbari for which students choose AEC to gain some exposure.     My experience in AEC Guwahati is most of time good. With a green campus, the environment of campus is quite cool and calm. The faculty is also good. My experience is not short as I have been here only for 6 months. I chose this college over other state engineering college because it is the oldest Engineering college in northeast.
