Life at Assam Engineering College: Clubs, Events, and More

My overall experience until now in Assam Engineering College is nice. It is an first engineering college of Northeast inaugurated by Jawaharlal Nehru ji. The faculty, the teaching quality is also nice and the placement of this college is also nice comparatively to the other engineering college of Assam other than IIT and NIT. I was also a JEE aspirants but due to some circumstances I couldn't clear the exam that's why I have given the state engineering entrance exam which is named as CEE in which I have got a seat in the college. If anyone want to do engineering then this college is nice. If anyone wants to study in this college then he/she must be permanent residence of Assam.

The academics of Assam Engineering College are also nice. Electrical Engineering is the core branch so the placement of this particular branch is also nice so if someone is interested in Electrical branch then this course is nice. For taking admission in college in the electrical branch, he/ she has to give CEE exam. For Electrical Engineering, he/she must secure under 500 rank in the exam for general category. After securing good rank in the exam, there is a counseling process in which you have to give your preference. The examination is same for other courses that is semester wise examination besides that there is two test exam, which is taken by the particular branch. Academics much not prepare for the real life challenge.

The fee is same for all the course that is approximately Rs. 30,000 at the time of addmission in which includes tuition fee, registration fee, government fee and the hostel registration fee also included. It is per year and besides that, you have to pay semester registration fee after the semester starts that is Rs. 1,300 and examination fee that is Rs. 3,900 in which fest fee is also included and if anyone is BPL candidate then there is a deduction in the fee. There is many scholarship provided by the government that is Isan Uday in which Rs. 80,000 is given per year for Isan Uday candidate must a fresher (not a dropper) and annual family income must be not more than Rs. 4,50,000 and there are also ONGC scholarships and many private scholarships are also there.

There are many faculties in my course and all nice but little strict. Teaching of all the faculties is nice. All the faculties are well educated and have done PhD in their field. In first year classes of all the branch take place in the same building and the faculty teaches in green board and from second year student go to their specific branch and the classes from 2nd year takes place in their specific branch building and in their faculty uses green board and also projector to teach. The problem solving abilities of the faculty are good as all of them are well educated. The bonding of the faculty and the students are also nice as they are helpful and help a lot.

Yes, there is placement cell in Assam Engineering College and the overall placement is decent they help a lot to the students to acquire jobs. For placement many workshop take place in the college and many internship also given to students, which helps students to build themselves that, helps in placement. Some PSUs like NRL, ONGC, Power grid, IOCL, and APDCL are the top recruiters and many private companies like Infotech, L&T, Cognizant, and IBM. In 2024, chemical engineering took the highest package that was 24 LPA in which 8 students got the highest package recruited by NRL and the average package of the college was 7 LPA.

Yes, there is hostel facility in the college and there is a separate hostel for the first year student. There are 9 hostels in the college in which 1 hostel is for girls and the other 8 for boys. The number of rooms are dependent on hostel. In my hostel, there are total 57 rooms and in 1 room, there is a accommodation of two students. All the hostels have their separate mess run by the hostel students or the hostel superintendent. The food quality of my hostel is nice and provides 3 meals a day that is breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The timings of the meals are fixed. If you take hostel, then there is a hostel registration fee that is taken at the time of admission only with the tuition fee and there is a monthly mess fee, which is about Rs. 3000. There are strict rules of hostel and have in time in the hostel in my hostel 7:30 PM is the in time of the hostel after that gate of the hostel is locked but in the senior hostel the in time is different. My experience in the hostel is nice as hostel gave the lifetime experience and hostel teach us many things in life and hostel life is the best time of your life.

The campus is very big but it is open campus so many people live near the college many public vehicles go from the college road. The infrastructure of college is nice but little old. The college is located in the Guwahati city itself and the local people near the college are very nice and helpful. The classrooms are decent with seating capacity of approximately 80 to 90 students. In the college, there is a big library but not central library but library is nice and mostly all books, which you need, are available. There are many labs and all the labs are well maintained. The auditorium of the college is not nice it is old auditorium with less seating capacity but soon there will be a new auditorium for which work is going on. There is a college canteen in where food of good quality with affordable price is served. The sports facilities are also nice there are many sports played by the students and in the college week inter hostel sports is also organized. There is an Ayurvedic hospital at the walking distance from the college so for any medical emergency students go to the hospital. The security of the college is nice and every hostel has two wardens that look after the hostel. I like the location of the college.

The overall campus life is nice. In starting days, I didn't like the campus life but now it is nice. The college crowd is average. Yes, there are many clubs in the college and all are active clubs now I am not any part of the club but soon I will join club. Many workshops are organized many sports events, cultural week are organized. Festival like Saraswati Puja, Diwali, Holi, and Satyanarayan Puja celebrated in the college and the theirs is an annual fest, which named Pyrokynesis, which is organized in the month of February. The campus life of the college is nice.
