Living My Dream College Life

Overall Rating
I am a B.Tech student studying in CSE, 2nd year in Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University. I choose S.M.V.D.U. because it is the only university in Jammu and Kashmir which provides placements with a decent package. Also, the infrastructure is very good. The university provides all sorts of facilities to the students including hostel mess, free Wi-Fi and all other things which are necessary for the students. The faculty is very supportive and helpful in nature.
 

Academics Rating
There are so many courses other than B.Tech CSE like Mechanical, Civil, Electrical and ECE etc. Students can come here through JEE basis. Also scholarships for JEE students are also available as per their rank in JEE. I am interested in studying the programming of computers that’s why I choose CSE. The packages are good as per the university fees. CSE’s average package is 8-9 LPA and highest is about 28 LPA.
 

Faculty Rating
The faculty in this university is highly educated and very helpful when students ask doubts. They teach through different modes like on boards or projectors and PPTs.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, our university has a separate placement cell for students which help students in getting their dream jobs. The cell is very supportive and provides great guidance.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, hostels and guest houses are available in the university. Hostels are separate for girls and boys. There are in good condition with proper fans, lights and free unlimited Wi-Fi. Hostels have grounds for playing. The mess menu changes every day, providing a vast variety of food.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The best part of this university is its infrastructure. It was properly made and designed by the architects. There are separate blocks for separate branches which are well maintained. The Matrika Auditorium is where all fests take place.
 

Campus Rating
Overall, the campus life is good as per my experience. Here, students will find a lot to explore and discover their potential in various activities. Fests are celebrated time to time. Cultural, sports, technical fests are conducted throughout the year. Facilities like swimming and shooting are available in the university. All students can join clubs as per their interests like dance, acting, art, tech, music etc. and work in them to become a club leader.

    Overall I would rate my university a 7 out of 10. There are many good things inside the university like very nice hostels and tidy rooms. the faculty is also very friendly and easy to understand. The infrastructure of the university is also very good. The negative sides of the university are not up to the mark mess food quality and lower than expected packages.     My overall experience in this university is above average because it is better than I expected. I chose this university because it is near my home and it provides better placements than all the universities in Jammu & Kashmir.     All in all, the university is great for studying and preparing for GATE and many other competitive exams. Students are encouraged by the faculty for the same too. The venue might be a little discouraging in terms of job opportunities, because it's in Katra but still, the university is pretty decent with its placements. Still personally, I like the venue and the environment here, it's healthy. So all in all, it's a great and peaceful university to attend, with decent future opportunities.... Read Full Review

  • SMVDU a moderate college for overall performers

    My overall experience here is neutral. Everything here is just average or a little above average. The location of the college is in a very remote area. It is very difficult as the transportation is very scarce. You literally have to wait for two straight hours or more to catch the local matadors which leave you at the nearest highway from where you can catch the bus to nearest towns or cities like Jammu, Udhampur or Katra.
