Allahabad University BA+LLB Review By Arpita Banerjee

The University of Allahabad is one of the most leading central universities, where students are admitted based on their CUET marks. Here, I will review the Law faculty of this university. Overall, the department stands as a distinguished part of the university. The Law faculty produces excellent alumni which are evident through the UP PCS J results. The Law faculty focuses on the judiciary and academic fields. So, there is not much opportunity for students who desire to go for the Corporate Law. The Law faculty also nourishes students for litigation.

The Law faculty is known for its successful rates in the civil service examinations. The course is mainly structured by focusing on the judiciary syllabus. Each year is divided into two semesters, which includes a midterm test and end semester examinations. We get summer and winter internship breaks. The college doesn't help in seeking internships though. You have to find your own internship opportunities; they’ll just provide a Letter of Recommendation. However, seminars are conducted where they invite leading lawyers and judges including the Chief Justices from the Allahabad High Court. If you're smart enough you can build great connections. Plus the location of the campus is quite near to various tribunals and the High Court is 3 -5 km away, which makes it easier for the students to have internships there.

This is one of the best things about my college. The faculty is very good. The teachers hold Ph.D degrees, which prove their expertise in their respective subjects. They even hold very good experience as well. They are very helpful and approachable and provide study materials to the students. The teachers are very sincere regarding the syllabus; we have extra classes even on Sundays. They explain the concepts very well. Even the B.A. teachers are very well laid off. (We study humanities subjects in the first two years which are taught by the B.A. teachers.)

This college doesn't have a placement cell. So you have to go for off campus placements or use your own connections. This is one of the major drawbacks of this college. But you never know, they might build one by the time I graduate.

The University of Allahabad has a big campus allocated for the girl’s hostel. Inside the campus there are 6 hostels. Girls from various departments live together. Some are rooms are designed in a single seater, 2 seaters, and 3 seaters. The hostels are well - maintained and have washrooms cleaned every day. We get only vegetarian food which is a setback for other students. But they maintain hygiene. There are a number of boy’s hostels as well, which are distributed all around the place. But according to my male friends, the hygiene is not good. But they provide average food.

The faculty building is newly built, so you don't get that monument type of campus. It is good and well maintained, but not big. We do not have a canteen. No events are organized by the faculty but the students organize unofficial events amongst themselves. The library is also good and well maintained. It provides the students access to online databases like Manupatra for free. The classrooms are air conditioned and proper ventilated.

The campus is very small. The crowd varies from students of all parts of the country. It is based on how you choose your circle. But the students, irrespective of their personalities are very hard working and passionate. It is being instilled into us. The faculty motivates us a lot which forces us to work hard anyways.
