Allahabad University BA+LLB Review By Obaid Akram

I am in BA LLB program at the University of Allahabad which was erstwhile regarded as the Oxford of East. You could get admission through CUET exam and you have to score decent marks for getting a seat in BA LLB at Allahabad University because it's one of the most demanding courses of AU. If you are aspiring to go for Judiciary then believe me there's no other place that could offer you a suitable environment, sometimes people refer our faculty as the factory of judges and it could be seen in the results of UPPCS J and exam more than 90 in 2018 among 600 vacancies and more than 50 in 2022 among 300 vacancies. So for Judiciary, it is one of the best places to be.

So the course offered by the university is BA LLB. For getting admission in this course, you have to give CUET exam with English, GT and Legal Studies as your subjects. There is no age limit for the program. You have to secure at least 50% marks in your 12th boards exam.

Teaching staffs are well qualified and some of them are best in their realms. Mostly the teacher urges student for Judicial Services and the syllabus of the course is also designed in consonance with the syllabus of judicial services exams. Classes are being held regularly and some teachers are extraordinary. Overall, it's the faculty members are decent.

We don't have any placement cell in the university.

Yes, the university has hostel facilities but unfortunately not for everyone only those who secured good marks in their entrance exams and very few seats are reserved for other state students. Boy’s university has dedicated a separate hostel for BA LLB students "Shatabdi Boy's Hostel" and every year the hostel accommodate around 30-32 students. For girls a separate huge compound has been dedicated and almost all the girls get a hostel seats and very few of them are unfortunate enough to not get a seat. Being a hosteller is a privilege, you'll get 24×7 electricity, Wi-Fi and economically, it is very cheaper yet good enough stay for 5 years.

Infrastructure is average. We have a separate building for 5th year Law students with centralized AC in it and dedicated library and digital library into it. Classes are good and seats are also comfortable enough. We have an open area in the faculty where students mostly hangout.

Well, campus life is above average. We have functions and fest every year. ‘Congrego’: a meet up of whole BA LLB students. It's one of the most interesting and engaging events which is organized by third year batch and passes are allotted to every student. It offer most enjoyable moments for every batch and all of them get engaged in many interesting activities are held in the event. We do have certain clubs which are active in the department.
