IILM University MBA Review By Kunal Arora

Coming back to Delhi was more so because I wanted to stay close to my home. After discarding M.Tech from my list, MBA or PGDM was the only choice I was left with. Bangalore was good but after staying way too far from family for four years, Delhi being closer to my place, I chose IILM. I had to drop for two years after engineering as clearing CAT or other entrances need some attention. IILM is expensive no doubt but the two years of hard work will pay off once you get placed. The college’s placements were great and the CAT score is accepted by the university. A score of 80 or above will help you get admissions here. Mostly Delhiites or students from Rajasthan, Punjab, and Haryana will be seen so it isn't a mixed cultural crowd as it was in Bangalore. The course is AIU accredited and the university is AICTE approved so that shouldn’t be a problem for those who give importance to such rankings. IILM has three campuses and I was at the main campus that is at Gurugram. One can choose the campus of his/her choice but Gurugram being the main and the oldest campus of the university choosing that was a no brainer for me.

Not just academically but the institute groom’s students for the corporate requirement. Gurugram campus turned into a residential program in 2018. One can learn 24*7 as companies Gartner have sent their people to groom and train students. After studying in Bangalore one thing that I infused in me was discipline. Not many students at IILM were but had to be because missing the classes was complete no from faculty and management. Note of such incidents were taken and students were offered firing. I don’t know whether I should say this or not but the glam quotient was quite high at the campus and that can be a bit of distraction for even nerds.

Experience and knowledge-wise unmatched for sure. Most of them had hordes of experience with them and they did justice of the knowledge they possess by passing every bit of it to the students. I was glad to be under their mentorship as they will always encourage students to work in groups. Personal projects and group projects were assigned and a good show in that meant, you being made the team leader of your group. The advantages of becoming a group leader always brought the best out of the students.

Most students were banking on the banking sector to choose them while the placement cell told us the importance of the FMCG sector. One sector that has grown leap and bounds even in the time of pandemic is the FMCG sector and Nestle being at the campus with nearly 50 odd requirements, I didn’t went to any other company but gave my all to make sure they hire me. Banking sector companies like ICICI and Kotak Bank offered the highest of packages. The placement percentage was close to 100 as the students who were denied for interview were not interested in jobs. Average too wasn’t bad and on the whole, the institute has done well with regards to placements.

IILM’s boy's hostel is located at 1km from the institute while the girls hostel is inside the campus. D1 and D2 boy’s hostels are the two boy’s hostels each laced with the latest technology and superior facilities. D3 boys hostel was getting constructed inside the campus which will have only the single rooms. D2 hostel had 2-seater rooms and D-1 had 3-seater rooms. The hostel building had a student lounge with quite a few indoor sports. Unlike my previous hostel, the rooms had really nice furniture and food that pleased my taste buds.

The institute is not that big but because the strength is also limited, the space never felt crowded. The classrooms were air-conditioned with tables for individual students. The campus had 24-hour Wi-Fi that can be accessed from anywhere on the campus. Institute’s pantry or canteen was like a lounge as music was played in the evening and the lightings were dimmed. The institute gives fitness much importance and therefore a fitness building with a music room, yoga room, dance centre, and art centre. No sports ground but the college has a basketball court, badminton court, and volleyball court. The indoor gaming room had 3 table tennis tables. There were at least 7-8 RO purifiers at the campus and most importantly the campus was thoroughly maintained.

North India is known for its loud culture but the institute was exactly the opposite of that. The area in which the college is located is peaceful and therefore no music or loud noise was allowed in the rooms after 10 pm. Boys and girls were allowed to roam in the campus till 11 pm and students will form groups and sit in the institute’s garden. Apart from the annual function, the other events were related to education only and one can’t just run away without nominating them for some of the events.
