ILS Law College is generally regarded as a good law college in the state and in the country as well, which is why I made the decision of joining this college. The college has illustrious alumni, including former Chief Justices, ministers, senior advocates, and associates at tier I law firms. The college will definitely broaden your perspective and provide exposure and opportunities. However, you must be proactive to gain all these benefits.

I had enrolled in the five year B.A.LL.B program, which one may apply for after completing 12th. One can apply for the three year LL.B course, after completing graduation. Recently, BBA.LL.B has also been introduced. Entry requirements and eligibility for the 5 year program include qualifying 12th standard with a minimum passing percentage, which is different for each categories of reservation. For the 3 year program, one must have completed graduation in any stream. One must also give the Maharashtra Law CET. ILS generally has a high cutoff.

Some of the faculty members are great as they come from reputed colleges and have scored top percentile in the NET. They are insightful and innovative in their teaching and have elicited interest in the subject. Some have won several accolades and have published their research in renowned international journals, or are reputed lawyers. Others are mediocre at best, teaching only for the sake of it. Attendance in lectures is taken very seriously here.

There is an Internship and Placement Cell. Tier I law firms such as Khaitan, AZB, Trilegal, etc., companies such as ICICI, HDFC, HSBC, Godrej, other law firms such as LKS, DSK, Denton Link Legal and individual practicing advocates come for placements. More than 50 students who sit for placement get placed. ILS Law College Placement cell is not proactive and can definitely do better.

There is a boys' as well as girls' hostel. Boys’ hostel is in a deplorable condition. Girls' hostel has relatively better infrastructure, but do not justify the exorbitant hostel fees for it. There are various PGs in the area as well.

The college campus is very lush green and beautiful. The library is well stocked with books, journals, and subscriptions to legal databases such as SCC Online, Manupatra, Westlaw, etc. Classrooms are average. There is ground, swimming pool, tennis court, gym, basketball court, etc. but has very specific time slots for usage by the students.

Campus life is great. Peers and seniors are very helpful, perhaps more than the college itself, in providing information on opportunities and exposure. There is an annual fest, and sports event. Apart from this, various moot court competitions, debating competitions, advocacy and negotiation competitions are organised throughout the year. Various conferences and seminars are also held. There are various students’ run and faculty assisted cells, such as the company law cell, competition law cell, criminal law cell, environmental law cell, moot court society, debating society, history cell, etc. These cells regularly hold sessions and competitions.
