Shiv Nadar University Greater Noida campus is totally residential

My father first recommended this college to me as I had not scored very well in JEE but got 90.89%. I met all the cutoff requirements for this college and I have heard about this college from my friends as well so I decided to get admission in this college. Also I live in Greater Noida and the college was near to my city thus this is the another point for choosing this college among many other colleges in India.

My course is ECE (Electronics and Computer Engineering). This course was actually very new to me and I hesitated for a fairly long time to enroll in it after getting my admission letter. I have chosen this course after consulting with many people. There are 2 ways through which you can get into this college that is through JEE or through SNSUAT conducted by university itself, both of which are equally hard. For my course the cutoff was from 85-90% and for CSE it was 90-95 or above. I came in through JEE admissions. My motive was simple i.e. there are a lot of scope for both electrical and computer aspects in jobs in future and I personally wanted to get into semiconductor field and truly there was no better way than to choose this course.

The faculty here is actually and undoubtedly top class as they are from IIT’s, IIM’s and top international universities. The most positive point about them is that they have a lot of knowledge about the subject they are teaching and are very friendly to students. Whenever I ask a doubt they instantly come to me or call me themselves and clarify my doubt 1 on 1. They teach using projectors, blackboards, quizzes, and sometimes if needed, they also conduct some extra doubt sessions regularly. They also help to motivate students who are finding the course tough.

Yes there is a placement cell in our university called as CDC which also prepares students for placements. The placement in our college is very good as a lot of top MNC’s like Amazon, Google, Paytm, Mercedes, and Intel, etc. come to recruit students from our university. Last year our average placement package was around 10 lakh which is a good amount for college placements and the top placement was for 70 lakh per annum. The reputation of our university is what makes these companies to come and recruit the students. Also around 96% of students were placed last year.

Shiv Nadar University, Greater Noida campus is totally residential and living outside the campus is strictly not allowed even if you live just a mile away. There are a lot hostels but in first year we get a four room hostel you can choose btw AC / non AC room (ac rooms come with only twin sharing). There is study room in first, second and third floor with full ac so one can study there if want to. Mess food is delicious, there are total of 3 messes in the university and they all are properly sanitized and kitchen is inspected by a food inspection officers. The diet plan is made by nutritionist of the university. One thing is that I think water in hostel is very hard compared to my place and I find it a bit discomforting.

The academic blocks are fully ac except block C as they consist of labs (inside some labs are AC as mechanical labs can’t have AC). All classes have AC and comfortable seats. A big auditorium is also present in block G. As for my favorite part, football, cricket, indoor running tracks, 3 basketball courts, badminton courts and as well a big gym is also present I the campus. I personally play football which I play for the college team and the coach is excellent and teaches me new ways and techniques to play. Library is biggest in whole NCR with full AC and computerized book navigation systems. Different rooms are present in the college for different clubs.

Regular events and the presence of big celebrities like Arpit Bala, Lost Souls and Kullu from Tanmay Bhats Crew are common there. The organizers of the event really know how to conduct hit events. Companies like Red Bull and Coca-Cola sponsor us so one can think that how much reach they have got. There are students from all over India and are nice and friendly. Seniors are super friendly and I haven't heard any case of bullying done by them, they help us in any way they can and even guide us through many things. For 1st year students the last hostel entry time is 12 AM but there’s no restrictions to enter hostel from 2nd year which is pretty good for me as I can stay out as much I want. There are 2 stores to buy groceries from i.e. Minimart and Arcade. Arcade has a stationary, a big supermarket and 2 extra markets for fast food whereas mini mart just supplies packed products like chips, Pepsi etc. Canteen is separate and is in btw A & B block and one in C & D block.
