Shiv Nadar University Chennai admissions are done through SNUCEE

Shiv Nadar University, Chennai is a wonderful place branching off the Shiv Nadar University in Noida which in itself is recognised as an Institute of Eminence. Located amidst sprawling greenery, our campus embodies nurturing spirit. Personally, I chose this college because, never before had my extracurricular activities been asked while filling the application. So, it made me think the achievements that I had outside academics also mattered. The college gives equal importance to both academics and extra-curricular activities, which I think helps the students in their overall development and makes them stand out in the society.

The university consists of 3 courses for B.Tech (AI and Data Science, IoT, and Cyber Security), 1 course for B.Sc (Economics with specialisation in Data Science), and 2 courses in Commerce (B.Com, B.Com (Professional Accounting)) and 1 course in Law (B.A.LL.B). The entry to all of these courses is through a common entrance exam, SNUCEE. Once, selected in the entrance, students are shortlisted for a personal interview with the faculty and, if selected in that, students are provided with the offer letter. The whole process lasts for a maximum of a month and a half. The eligibility condition for a student to apply for the entrance is a minimum of 75% in the board exam. The courses are aligned to industry requirements and we get into the specializations right from the beginning.

The faculty in SNU, Chennai is very well qualified and almost 2/3rd of them has a Ph.D and is actively involved in research in their respective fields. Students are allowed to collaborate with the professors. Except for the theory subjects, the courses also have a Lab part where we are left to get the practical exposure of things. The teaching here is mostly research inclined and we are given the space and time to explore things that interest us.

Yes, we do have a placement cell in our university. The placement cell actively hand holds the students to internships and job opportunities. The faculty, too, has connections with other institutes and help students secure internship opportunities. The institute also has connections with top companies in the field, such as, HCL and more.

The hostel is our home away from home. The wardens take good care of us and ensure we are all comfortable. We have non-residential wardens, residential wardens and a warden for each block. As for hostel related activities, we have the Hostel Day which is so fun. Hostellers are given access to the Gym and the sports facilities. We also have a study room is each block where students come and study. The mess food is also good and does not cause any harm to health. We also have other food facilities, like about 2-3 canteens in the campus.

As of now, we have 3 Academic Blocks for the school of Engineering, Commerce, Science, and Humanities. And we have a separate block for the School of Law. We have multiple sports facilities for a wide range of sports from Basket Ball to Cricket. Our classrooms are all huge and well-ventilated. Our Labs are all well-equipped and air conditioned. We also have a Career Development Centre (CDC). Our campus flaunts huge auditoriums that can host large audiences.

Campus Life is as you would expect. You can expect making friends for life and having memorable moments. The campus is amidst sprawling greenery and is a feast for the eyes. We have events taking place throughout the year. Two of the major events happening are - Invente (the technical event) and Instincts (cultural event) which are made possible and awesome through the collaboration of SSN and SNUC. We are also sent to other colleges for different cultural and technical events. The University encourages overall development and ensures students understand that college life is not just about academics.
