NIT Raipur- A Great Experience

Overall Rating
Overall, NIT Raipur is a good institute. Through my experience I can say that there is room for improvement like the hostel facilities, more funds for clubs and projects, better faculties, etc. But if you are willing to work hard, this institute won't disappoint. There are plenty of opportunities here. Every month many internships and club competitions are held that many people join. But if you are not that active and expect the placement cell to arrange good offers for you with no achievements apart from grades, then this institute is not for you.
 

Academics Rating
To get admission in this institute one has clear the Joint Entrance Exam Mains and then go for counselling. My main motive to get in this institute was to get a good job as it provides very good placements. It's situated in my home state so I was eligible for home state quota.
 

Faculty Rating
NIT Raipur has a team of highly experienced faculty members who are not only experts in their respective fields but also bring real-world industrial insights into the classroom. They ensure that students become practical and relevant education is provided beyond theoretical concepts. A majority of the faculties are Ph.D holders. The university designs its Engineering curriculum in collaboration with industrial experts to ensure that the students are equipped with the latest knowledge and skills required by employers.
 

Placement Rating
Placements are good for the branches of Computer Science Engineering as well as Information Technology. Some Electronics and Communication students also bag good offers. This year itself Adobe offered three students a package of 55 LPA, which is actually very good. But the core branches don't get high packages. The average package for Mechanical was around 7–8 LPA, that too if you are one of the best students in your class. Mediocre students are going to have a tough time for placements. Still our ranking in NITs is under 10 when it comes to placements, so it's decent.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels are not sufficient; people tend to stay outside the institute. Cutoffs are released for various branches and categories to get a room in the hostel. It's like going through JOSAA counselling all over again in the beginning of every semester. But the hostel has good facilities like indoor sports, gym, good food and Wi-Fi facilities. The hostels are well furnished too.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The main campus building was constructed in 1950s, so it’s pretty old. But the architecture department is different as it’s been constructed recently. The institute’s cafeteria and canteens are situated in the new buildings. NIT Raipur has a newly constructed library, 3 parks, 2 outdoor stadiums and a new building for the placement cell.
 

Campus Rating
The fests held here are good. They are fully managed by the students. Fests promote inter-branch interaction as well as interaction with seniors. Ragging is nonexistent here. There are different clubs like Shourya, Library Committee, etc. The sports facilities are very good here. The annual sports event is organized every year. Overall, NIT Raipur has a very good campus life.

    I'm currently pursuing B.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Raipur. Overall, what I can say is that this institute is good. Choosing it is kind of worth it. Well my JEE Main percentile is 93.6 so, I had to choose this institute as I want a decent NIT tag. For me, choosing this one is worth it because it is much better than choosing some lower government and private colleges.     NITs are excellent compared to other institutes. NIT Raipur has good placements. I am studying in Information Technology branch.     I joined this Institute in 2024. My branch is information technology. I joined this Institute because the average package of this branch is around 18.6 LPA CTC. I got Indian Institute of technology Patna mechanical engineering during JOSSA counseling but I applied for CSAB for this Institute.     Therefore, the overall experience in this Institute is very good because in our Institute all the things are very good just like my branch and my teachers. I chose this field because I am from Chhattisgarh and that is an area of mining so there is a scope on this field and i want to encourage my juniors to go this field and serve our country.
