NIT Raipur's Campus Facilities: Labs, Sports Complex, & More

I'm currently pursuing B.Tech degree from National Institute of Technology, Raipur. Overall, what I can say is that this institute is good. Choosing it is kind of worth it. Well my JEE Main percentile is 93.6 so, I had to choose this institute as I want a decent NIT tag. For me, choosing this one is worth it because it is much better than choosing some lower government and private colleges. Institute not only focuses on studies but also prepare us good enough for placements. They also help in developing our communication skills.

I chose to study Mining Engineering branch. I got this branch according to my JEE Main score but it is a good branch, as last year a girl from my branch got a good package, which was above 50 LPA. To get this college, you have to pass JEE Main with a good percentile. For general boys it is almost 95 percentile and for general girls it is almost 93+ percentile according to the last year. Well, after getting this college, we have to report physically on the date given by them. Then they will verify our all documents like caste certificate, Aadhar card, JEE Main score card, etc. They verify it almost three times. Then they will give admission slip in which your enrollment number is mentioned. Semester system is followed in my institute. Each semester is of 6 months. 2 exams are conducted in each. One is mid semester exam, which conducted after 2.5 months of semester starting. Other one is end semester exam; along with it a practical exam is also conducted. Well, academics prepare us for real life challenges, as balancing assignments, deadlines, and exams trains you to handle multiple tasks.

Semester wise fee for my course is Rs. 70,000 for students having family income more than 5 LPA. It is Rs. 30,000 for students having family income between 1 LPA to 5 LPA and Rs. 10,000 for students having family income less than 1 LPA. Also, the SC/ST category students have to pay Rs. 10,000.

Faculty is highly educated here. Many of the faculty members are from reputed institutes of India such as IITs, NITs, etc. They are highly experienced. They sometimes teach us on blackboard and sometimes teach through the PPTs. Teacher-student ratio is good. Well all teachers are friendly in nature and they bother about your studies. Faculty members have a good doubt solving skill and we can also clear our doubts from research scholars as well. There is a funny incident of mine, as I am a back bencher in the class so, teachers usually scold me to study. In my mid semester I scored full marks in Math and teachers were surprised. My bonding with faculty members is good.

The institute provides good opportunities for placements. Since I did not sit for placements yet so, I don't have much information.

Yes NIT Raipur provides hostel facilities. There is one hostel for boys named as ‘Mahanadi Hostel’ and similarly there is one hostel for girls named ‘Indrawati Hostel’. Hostel has a Wi-Fi facility. The mess serves food 4 times a day including the evening snacks. The mess food is good and proper hygiene is maintained while preparing the same. Hostel fee is Rs. 54,515 per year including the mess charges. Hostel timings are from 6 AM to 9:30 PM. Overall, I would say that living in hostel is good, as institute is in a walking distance from it. Also, the security is good here for the students’ safety.

NIT Raipur is lush green surrounded by trees and has a peaceful environment. Campus infrastructure is not that much good because overall it is of 100 acres and our institute has three floors. Saraswati Station is just connected by a route with my institute. Some classrooms are good enough like IITs ones and some are just like normal school type. Classrooms have a seating capacity to accommodate 100 students. There is one fully air conditioned library, one sports complex and a basketball court, one CCC lab, and an auditorium. This institute has a canteen which has a very good seating arrangement. A coffee shop and a B-mart are also present within the campus. Central garden is my favorite place here, as I can find peace there. Here is one dispensary, which is free for all NIT students. The campus good security.

Overall, campus life is good. There are a lot of clubs like ‘Nrityam’, ‘Aavartan’, ‘Technocracy’, etc. where students participate according to their interests. Till now, I'm not a part of any club. Here many fests are also celebrated like ‘Eclectica’, which is one of the biggest fests ever. Other events like ‘Shruti’ and Garba night is also held here. My college life is going really well till now.
