SRM University Kattankulathur B.Tech Review By Nisha Sharma

My overall experience in this university has been nice. I chose this university because it has a nice rating here, and also it is quite popular in Chennai as students from all across India come here for studying. Also foreign students enroll here as well. My friend's siblings used to study here, so they recommended me this university as nice companies visit here and it also provide on campus placement opportunities. The placement statistics are nice here and that was the reason which made me join this university.

I enrolled in B.Tech Computer Science and Engineering. I chose this course because it is in high demand and in job market it has a high value. For applying into this, one has to give the SRMJEE exam which is conducted in total three phases and costs Rs.1500. According to the rank you got in exam, one is eligible for the courses provided by the university. After getting rank one can sit for the counseling and choose their respective course as per interest and enroll in it. It provides fees concessions through scholarships like merit scholarship, rank based scholarship, defense scholarship, alumni scholarship, etc.

It has a large number of faculties for different courses and subjects. All the faculties are well trained and have nice knowledge in their fields. Their teaching is good and understandable. All the exams conducted here are easy to qualify with just the classroom knowledge given by the teacher. Mostly the teachers are from south and they teach in English only, but they are all very helpful and understanding and are always ready to explain any doubt.

Yes, we have a placement cell in our university. Students from 3rd year can start applying for placements. In 2024, some 830 companies visited the university. 90% students got placed here. The highest package stood at 52 LPA and average package was 7.5 LPA. It offers on campus placement opportunities to the students.

The campus is huge, expanding up to 250 acres. It has two main entry gates. It has one university building, having 13 floors consisting academic blocks, classrooms and labs. They all are well furnished. It also has a huge central library consisting of all different kinds of books and one can issue them as well. SRM has its own SRM Global Hospital where students can go for checkups. It has one auditorium where various events and shows are organized.

The overall campus life is nice and fun but it can be chaotic sometimes as the campus is very crowded. It hosts 2 major fests. Aarush fest, which is a tech fest organized around September and Milan which is a cultural fest organized around March. They organize lots of different activities, events and shows which are so fun. It has lots of clubs which hosts hackathons, workshops, etc. for the students.
