Inter National Institute of Fashion Design Saltlake Review By Kingkar Pait

The period of my fashion education is one of my fondest memories and a matter of pride. International Institute of Fashion Design, Lindsay Street is one of the prime and acclaimed fashion and interior design institute. This institute is adept enough to provide their students the perfect learning environment to grow. This is a place where the skills of a design aspirant will definitely get honed. INIFD is an associated knowledge partner of Lakme Fashion Week and Femina Miss India. The interested students who visit to enroll themselves in the program are given a choice to choose from a handful of courses. There is no entrance examinations held here to get selected, there are no such limitations for any aspirant coming from any background. This institute welcomes each and every one equally disregard of their age, location, educational preference and qualifications. My efforts and diligence put into my two years of specialized certificate course not only helped me to develop and validate my skills but also groom my personality. This college will help to manifest real insights one never had before which will lead to best outcomes in the form of portfolios and presentations.

I had high expectations from this college which has been fulfilled during the course of time in all aspects. I now hold the correct outlook of any apparel along with their inspiration roots. I adapted the knowledge of how any style and pattern of a garment came into existence, its causes, history and what the style holds in the future, if it will continue to dominate the market or perish in the long run. I also got acquainted with the concept of couture fashion and preta porter which helps e plan and understand my future visions of choosing my main customers who love it fancy, creative, or simply commercial. I am grateful to this course and its educators to help me polish my skills and understanding of the subjects which now makes me choose the right style for myself and others. I thank my faculties for always guiding me throughout and because of them I can proudly say why I wear what I choose to wear and explain about its inspiration story.

INIFD provided a great learning experience and I feel fortunate to get acquainted with some of the finest and expert trainers with immense knowledge and experience in this field. The faculties were very amiable and approachable regarding any sort of difficulties. They were very suggestive in every possible way to bring out the best of the students to prepare them as an achiever in future. This is one of the best places to practice one’s design passions and skills. The college creates such an ambience by taking care of all the needful so the students can worry less and focus only on studies. The drawing skills and sense of creativity is taken special care of here and will definitely improve over the due course of time.

Everything was brilliant here except the placement opportunities. The college’s administration was weak when it came to finally provide us placements post completion of our courses. We were only provided internship program of six months under a prestigious designer at his manufacturing unit which did help us gain a little industry exposure. The job offers were more like a contract with little pay or under stipend system.

There were no hostel facilities provided under this college.

The institution was well equipped but did not have a proper college campus like other colleges. The college had a small infrastructure but that never caused any dissatisfaction, we all were provided with all amenities needed. We were provided with classrooms as per subjects. The proper number of computer systems, stitching machines, and even a small library was provided where we used to reach out to refer for our projects. Even a small kitchen which used to be our mini lab where we used to execute all the textile experiments.

To start with the college did not have a campus but well propped with needful lab cum kitchen and machines. In short, the college was well equipped to aid the students to grow in their field. It used to be highly appreciated by the students who all used to make fullers utilization of the amenities. There was a good rapport between the students, faculties and staff. There were always some or the other events going on like fashion shows, exhibitions, or events held on any special occasions. Even on auspicious events like Saraswati Puja all the rituals used to get followed religiously and on Christmas, party and jam session used to get held and the arrangements of which we all used to plan and perform. Inter-class and inter-college fests used to get held too where some of us nurturing our musical, dancing, poetic or dramatic skills used to get a platform to showcase. The time spent here throughout the course has been very interactive and fun.
