A Review about Jadavpur University's Department of Economics

Overall Rating
My experiences about Jadavpur University are very good. The NIRF ranking is 9th and State Public University ranking is 2nd. The fees structure of this university is very low and for this reason everyone can afford to study in this university. The university provided a high standard of education. The placement cell of this university is very good.
 

Academics Rating
Being an economics student of Jadavpur University my experiences are very good. For admission, you have to give an entrance test which is based on Reasoning & Math. The merit list is prepared based on the basis of your 12 standard marks and the entrance test. Eligibility criteria are you must get at least 80% marks in Mathematics in your 12 standards for admission in BA Economics in this university. Our department provides campusing after master’s degree for their students.
 

Faculty Rating
The professors of our department are very good and quite helpful. Even our departmental library provides many rare books for their students. The professors are very highly qualified and their teaching skills are quite good. The computer lab of our department is also very well developed.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, We have a placement cell and they really help the students to acquire jobs in the industry.
 

Hostel Rating
You can stay in our hostel at a very low price. They provide good and healthy food. Electricity and water supply is very good. Free wifi facilities are also available for the students.
 

Infrastructure Rating
In spite of a very low fees structure they provide first class services. A lot of buildings are there in our university. In almost every classroom, there are sufficient AC, fan, light, bench, etc. The bathroom and the supply of drinking water are quite good. In our campus there are 5- 6 canteens and they provide good foods at a very low price.
 

Campus Rating
The campus is very big. The atmosphere of our campus is very healthy and quite good. In the union room you can play carom, Table Tennis, etc. In our playground you can play football, Cricket, etc. There is a place in our university called "Worldview”. This place is always crowded. There are a lot of clubs in our university like Chess club, Drama club, Dance club, etc. Every student is eagerly waiting for our college fest. Many famous bands like "Fakira" and "Meghdal" have performed in our college fest.

    Jadavpur University is tier 1 university and it is better than few IIT's and NIT's. Most important thing that you get here is JU tag. Alumni network is amazing and has very helpful Senior.     It has been less than a year that I joined this university. Till now, my experience is one of mixed feelings. The placement stats of Information Technology (my branch), very less fees compared to 99.9% of engineering colleges in India, language (Bengali), and good academic culture and to be honest familiarity with the city of Kolkata were the main reasons that compelled me to join this university out of the options that I had at that time.   • Jadavpur University: Ideal University to get Best Placement
     

    Overall Rating
    Our university is a tier 1 state public university with NIRF 2024 rank 12th in Engineering Category. Placement is very good (up to 100%) in some departments like Civil, Construction, Electrical, Mechanical, etc. Overall placement was 95% last year.     The overall experience of the university is superb. I'll describe each aspect in the later section but here let me give an outline of my experience. Jadavpur University offers the best ROI in India, the fees is just 2400 and getting an average placement of 10 LPA (20 LPA for CSE). There's no 75% attendance policy, 45-50% is enough.     Jadavpur University is one of the most prestigious institutions of India, particularly known for its Engineering courses. It gives a great university life experience and much boost to the carrier opportunities. It has the NIRF ranking of 12th in the year 2024.
