Amity Global Business School MBA Review By Dinesh Kumar

After trying so hard in B-Schools like IMT Ghaziabad, IILM University, and others, I made myself happy by joining AGBS. They accept almost all the entrance scores, and the next two rounds of GD & PI are conducted. Even after an average performance at both rounds, I received a call letter a week after my PI round. After thinking about it for a week, I decided to take admissions at AGBS. From my personal point of view, after being graduated from there, I can say that Amity Global Business School was a decent choice if not great. Like any other PG course, spoon-feeding was missing from AGBS. Felt sorry sometimes as coming from an engineering background, it wasn't easy to understand statistics, economics, and others. The college though had extra classes reserved for students coming from an engineering background. Placements were decent, and infrastructure wise it's a no match to any other university in India.

MBA is all about case study solving. My first case study was on Tata Group, and I loved it. I thought we would have a few of those, but in four years solved at least 10 case studies in personal capacities and what I did in group studies are different. Projects are endless, and assignments will require an extra hour daily to complete. The college was very strict with the attendance, and a missed class means at least 10 questions on why the class has been missed. The burden was always high, but that was the beauty of the course as everyone's tail was always on the firing line.

The faculty was a world-beater simply because there were many international faculties at the college. Many professors were called from international universities to take lectures, and I guess it was only possible at AGBS as they have that kind of money to bring in those people. Faculties were more than efficient in their subjects. Faculties were friendly, too, as they never portrayed themselves as a larger-than-life image.

AT AGBS, 2 placement sessions are held. One just before the third semester and one before the fourth semester. Americans get to work with some of the renowned corporate like HDFC Bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, and Axis Bank from the banking sectors. Besides that, the companies that have joined hands with the college in placements are E&Y, Deloitte, KPMG, Flipkart & Amazon. Students were offered decent packages of up to 5LPA to 12 LPA. The placement percentage was around 70, and some students were assisted on the start-ups they wanted to build.

AGBS have superb boys and girls hostels within the campus. Amity University is quite big, and hostel facilities are common for students studying in any university branch. The PG hostel buildings are different, and only the PG students stayed in the hostel in which I lived for two years. The rooms were big and had a kitchen along. We were allowed to use induction cookers and other kitchen machineries that we could apart from gas. The room was more than sufficient for two students. The warden was more than caring, and the hostels' mess served homely food. Hostels used to have their own secretary, and anything related to the hostel could be easily reported. If one feels like changing the food menu or needs revision in mess timings during winters, it was possible as students' rights were always protected at AGBS.

Amity universities infrastructure is a modern-day art as NYU inspires the campus. We have eco-friendly vehicles on the campus to roam around. There were 8-10 university buildings. AGBS had its own building with the best classrooms and a library within the building. There was also a central library and two auditoriums inside the campus. Almost all the buildings have elevators, and it was easy to commute to the classrooms back and forth because of that. The campus has a bank, stationery, salon, and an Amul dairy. Coming to the sporting facilities, they were amazing. The college had two sports grounds and an indoor sports building with a gymnasium and a yoga room. There's also a small hospital inside the campus and a medical store to get regular medicine at discounted rates.

Daily you will have new activities, and AGBS students were involved equally. Sports event Sangathan was held for a week and no classes were organized then. Amity campus gave students enough freedom and luxury that one would hardly feel out of place at the university campus. Amity University was one of the sponsors of the IPL team Delhi Capitals, and their ex-captain Shreyas Iyer was invited during the event. During cultural fests, celebrities are invited not just to witness the event but to perform and entertain the students. The campus life, therefore, was beyond imagination in many ways.
