I got admission to the University of Engineering and Management in 2019. IEM-UEM group founded this engineering institution in 2015 and each year, the placement record is improving. Although this is a private engineering college, students can explore multiple options like campus placement, higher study, or competitive exams with a mentor's guidance. Along with that the curriculum is designed as per the latest industry demand instead of following the same pattern. However, it’s better to understand that till now, IEM Kolkata is a better engineering institute than UEM in terms of placement opportunities, campus life, and overall reputation. To get an admission, you can visit college office or the official website and make your queries clear first. College management is helpful and they will explain course structure, plans, and will assist you in every means. team.

After completing higher secondary, I joined the course for B.Tech in Computer Science and Information Technology (CSIT). I have joined this course on the basis of my WBJEE rank and board exam results. You can also get admission through the IEMJEE exam. You need a minimum of 75% marks in the board's exam to be eligible for this particular course in UEM. As I was interested to join a course in Computer Science engineering, I chose this. I was a bit late so the seats for CSE (computer science engineering) and CST (computer science technology) were filled. Coming to the course structure, it’s a bit complicated actually. In my 1st year, there were 24 papers including theory and practicals. In my 2nd year, it was 25 along with an innovative project submission. However, the basic requirement for this paper was not discussed thoroughly in online classes. Hopefully, in offline mode, things will get better. As offline classes are resumed, the interactive laboratory classes are being helpful. Subjects included in our syllabus are related to the latest job requirements in technical sectors.

There are 32 faculties for our department. Most of them are helpful and have a strong command of the subject. However, 5-10% of faculties have a complex teaching method that shifts the interest. Overall, there are 100+ faculties across the whole department of engineering. Many of the eminent faculty members are ex-students of IITs. Most of them have 5-10 years of teaching experience.

From the 3rd year onwards, we’re having extra classes for placement preparation includes aptitude, programming languages, SQL and DBMS, Data structure, and Software engineering. These classes are interactive and helpful to secure at least one offer letter from the campus placement drive. From the beginning of the 4th year, we have our placement drives. It helps us to get better experience and exposure to the latest corporate demand. Bulk recruiters like TCS, Infosys, Capgemini, Cognizant, Accenture, Wipro visit our campus. In addition, companies like Byju's, Harman, Agnos Inc., Amazon, Flipkart, also recruit some students every year from UEM. Almost, 75% of the students get at least one job offer from the on-campus recruitment.

A hostel facility is provided in UEM Kolkata. The boy's hostel is near Unitech, Action Area III, Newtown. The girl's hostel is in sector-V. College bus is available for the hostel residents to reach college. Or they can also avail public transport. Hostel superintendent and security guards would be at their duties and a strict register is maintained in the hostel.

University of Engineering and Management is located in Action Area III, Newtown, beside Karigori Bhavan. It has a plinth area of 30000 sq ft. almost. There is a parking area for two and four-wheelers. There are three laboratories for computer-based applications and exams. A new smart lab is opened for the class as well. Conference rooms and AV halls are air-conditioned with multiple LED screens and projectors. The classrooms have adequate space with two CCTV cameras, a projector, and a microphone.

There are multiple clubs like quiz club (Pragya), literature club (Voices), Drama and dance club, toastmasters club, etc. Every year, a technical fest (Urekcon) and a cultural fest (Ectasia) are organized by the students. Other colleges are invited to join us from 2-3 days in our campus. Annual sports, marathons, cyclotron, etc also organized once a year. UEM also encourages tree plantation. Overall campus life is happening and if you’re an enthusiast, there are lots of opportunities available on this campus.
