Worth the Experience

Overall Rating
Being a media student, my experience was extremely worth my time. Dist provides more career oriented experience, with well-versed and experienced faculties of the field. We are also invested in the institute's extracurricular activities with equal importance to academics. Giving required attention to sports and gymnastics, it has a unique approach on the field of education.
 

Academics Rating
Master's in Journalism and Communication syllabus in DiST is arranged by MG University and is more oriented to the print side of media. Yet the faculties make sure to include various other media subjects of student's choice. Entry can either be through MG University CAP or through DiST website, with above 50% marks in UG degree. Students are provided with an in-depth analysis of each media field of their choice, with both theory and practical experience.
 

Faculty Rating
Media students require more practical knowledge than theory written in paper. Hence the faculty members are experienced people of their fields, either having or doing their thesis in particular areas. Since the focus is on practical area, students spend their time writing and reporting news, writing editorials, watching and analysing films, video production and so on.
 

Placement Rating
DiST has an active placement cell and offers yearly Job Fair- ‘Udhyog’ for institute’s students, outsiders, freshers, and experienced alike. Since the facilities are experienced in their field and alumni in various prestigious organizations, students have an advantage of shout-out as well as make networks through them.
 

Hostel Rating
DiST provides residential facilities for both boys and girls, with boy’s hostel in institute campus and the girl’s hostel around 3 KM away from the institute. Free bus service is provided to and from girl’s hostel to institute.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Institute has an average campus area with 2 buildings in the main campus and one extended department on the other side of road, next to the school by DePaul. The main campus also comprises of volleyball court, basketball court, boy’s hostel, and vast parking space. Institute also has a well maintained cafeteria and reprography for necessary academic supplies.
 

Campus Rating
Institute has keen interest in conducting fest and other engaging activities for institute students. We basically have 3 fests; one for Social Service Department, another for Management Department, and last one for the entire institute. Apart from the fests, club activities and other functions do take the main stage, with equal attention given to cultural and institute activities.

    Ernakulam has only 3 institutes providing PG in Journalism and Mass Communication. I chose DiST to complete my Post Graduation as they had the best facilities for my field compared to others.     Modern facilities and committed faculties provide a nurturing learning environment at DIST College in Angamaly. A comprehensive academic and extracurricular experience is encouraged on campus. This fosters personal development. Students value networking possibilities and the lively community. The administrative procedures could seem a little slow to some, though.     With a combination of coursework, extracurricular activities, and a lively campus community, DIST Angamaly provides a well-rounded college experience. Modern labs and studios are part of the infrastructure and the faculty members are helpful. Clubs, festivals, and cultural events keep the atmosphere vibrant.     This college is better than other colleges for studying. College conducts different types of programs and it is sometimes good and somewhere mediocre.
