National Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Tarun Kumar

This was the best institute and branch according to my JEE score. As it is a central government institute, it provides a vast range of placement opportunities and internships. The campus is decent with a lot of greenery. For first year students, the curriculum is very tight and hostel timings are very strict. Hostels are very good and provide all the necessary amenities. The sport cultural is also very nice. The institute provides all kind of sports like table tennis, cricket volleyball, basketball, and football. There is also an indoor badminton court. Variety of clubs and societies are also available. The campus has several food spots including Domino's.

The course has 8 semesters each of 6 months. Curriculum has 5-6 theory and 4 labs subjects. 1 mid semester exam and 1 end semester exam is conducted in every semester along with minimum 3 quizzes and then total marks out of 100 is calculated for theory subject. For labs, there is 1 final practical and our 40 marks are calculated. Students need to take part in JoSSA counseling after JEE Main score for getting admission in this program. My motive for enrollment in this program was a decent job package. Some foreign students join this college through DASA counseling.

Faculties here at NIT Jalandhar are highly qualified. They have PhD degrees from IIT and several renowned foreign and national institutes. They are also highly cooperative and clear all the doubts asked by students. The faculty to student ratio is 1:10. Mostly every teacher teaches in English.

Placements of this institute are very good. Previous year, about 50 students were offered package above 25 LPA, 100 students were offered package between 10 to 20 LPA and 150 students were offered package between 5-10 LPA. My Information Technology department has placement rate of about 95%. Several companies including Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, Flipkart, Citibank and many more companies visit campus for placement and internship opportunities.

Three hostels are allotted for first year students. These are BH1, BH2 and BH5. BH1 and BH2 are 4-seater room with a good food quality as compared to BH5. BH5 is 2-seater hostel. BH1 has a good garden area. Computer rooms are also provided in every hostel along with reading room.
Bh1 has best infrastructure.

The infrastructure of NIT Jalandhar is quite good. The classrooms are air-conditioned and every one of them has smart board with projector installed. It has 2 libraries, one is fully computerized where anyone can study and other is full of books. Nearly about 1 lakhs books are available in this library. Almost every department has its separate building.

Campus life until now what I have experienced is quite good. We have main two fests, ‘Utkansh’ a cultural fest and ‘Techniti’ a tech fest. We have various clubs of different genre from coding and technology to cultural clubs such as dance, music, drama, photography and many more. Nightlife of campus is also very good with several hangout spots.
