Management Development Institute PGDM Review By Pranav Maithani

MDI Gurgaon campus is a lush green campus in the capital city of Delhi that is also easy to reach. One can have a direct metro to Delhi and the location of the college is one of the key factors. Placements play a vital role in locations unless you are at IIMs. One can praise as much as they want about the faculties of the MDI. The essential factor that makes this B-School praiseworthy is its environment as it has nurtured us to have an intellectual mind. My emphasis was more on learning as placements I knew would happen. From what I said in my batch students entered El Dorado with hard work and intelligence. It is obvious that students who join here have to be intelligent. All in all, MDI presented us with a 360-degree development.

Change and innovation were the correct order at MDI. The curriculum is updated almost every couple of years. Thereby many new dimensions to the subjects are brought. We are living in a tech world so we were trained to be able to manage the virtual roles given to us at the campus. Thus, we were ready for the future from the 1st day of college. The institute created many opportunities for us by following the top B-Schools formula of giving the students enough evidence of how the industry works. In academics, MDI ticks all the boxes and perhaps more.

Faculties of MDI have proved their mettle long back. They already created heroes and new heroes are created by them in every single batch. During the batch, faculties took us to many national level competitions like RPG Blizzard, Mahindra War Room, ReNew Power, etc. Students have managed to win most of these competitions as the faculty played a vital role in guiding us. Faculties were not satisfied by students beating them in these competitions and wanted us to get packages worth students of IIMs. MDI is close but far from what IIM Kozhikode and IIM Indore students get. The motivation of the faculty in every step was quite handy as they believed in providing us maximum exposure.

I was in the IB department with finance, so we were adept in technology. The reason is why TCS and Wipro with many other Tech organizations have joined hands with MDI to give them students with knowledge of finance and tech. So, by just premium, their two purposes are solved. An engineer can only help them with tech issues then an MBA degree holder can help them in marketing and finance. This newly introduced specialization has not benefited the students but the companies too. Students of our branch were hired directly as senior-level managers so the price of that is I leave for you to guess. MDI is ranked in the top-10 consistently as placements here are as good as anybody. In comparison, IIMs are better than MDIs in terms of placements.

Students were divided by hostels but united by the facilities as each hostel had different facilities. Only Khsitij Hostel and Takshashila Hostel. Change Masters was an economical hostel but had the best recreational room as the hostel strength was the highest of that hostel. There were two superb girls' hostels as well as the campus had enough females too. There were two messes to choose from but most students preferred eating at the canteen as the mess used to get close by 10 pm.

There is nothing reasonable at the campus so why would infrastructure be reasonable. There were enough gardens on the campus and many college romances have mushroomed from our batch. From the beautiful garden to the sports ground, it may not have made any notable sports star but have ensured that students stay fit. The flower valley of the campus was more of a selfie point as students purposely went there to get clicked with their friends. Block-B where classes were held was ultra-modern as it had the best classrooms ever. From academics to sports, every facility on the campus ensured that students stay in the best frame of mind.

Just one complaint, we were told that we will be abroad for an industrial tour rather than going to Gujarat. For competitions, we are taken to many cities as campus makes us tougher and competitive more than anything else. If we can take on the challenges of today, it's only because of the campus life that we had at MDI Gurgaon. Life was easy at the campus but the management and the faculty pushed us in the pool to be one-up the next day. I was into quizzes and all since my school days, so I had to fight harder than the others. Some students led a relaxed life as honestly speaking attending classes at MDI Gurgaon was enough to gain all the knowledge.
