The BFIT College Dehradun is AICTE accredited in all its diplomas. And undergraduate engineering courses. I did my computer science engineering at this college. Apart from computer science engineering. The college offers two more branches of engineering. Which are civil engineering and electrical engineering. The computer science engineering courses here include computer engineering. Which is hardware and information technology also. The rankings of the college are pretty decent. I heard about this college through a seminar conducted in our school auditorium. Which was focused on advertising this deemed university. I didn’t prepare for the Joint Entrance examination. I have a private college option left only, If I wanted to do Engineering, which I wanted.

The admission process to this college was pretty simple. You will get the application form, fees, and date on the college’s official website. You need valid identity proofs and a 10+2 or equal scorecard for admission. During my second year, I saw many students still joining the college. Through the lateral entry process. If you are a diploma holder, you can get direct admission in the second year. The reason I joined this course was simple: I wanted to be a software engineer in a good firm. However, in the later years, I decided to go for a master's and go for higher studies. The course offered is beyond my expectations. It is very helpful to get a high-paying job in different MNCs and tech firms.

I have seen that there is a misconception among people. About the quality of faculty members in a private college. I understand that professors in private colleges are more involved and stricter. Then in government engineering colleges. These professors proved to be helpful in the later years and especially in the third and final years. Professors here are very cooperative. Few students did their schooling in Hindi medium. Despite the majority demanding English medium, the professor taught in both the languages. Also, these students were offered several helpful extra classes. I found the professors helpful but I was unable to understand very well in the classroom. It was only if I had studied the topic before, that I would be able to understand it in class.

As soon as the placement season starts. The environment of the college suddenly changes. Everybody becomes so serious, that serious you might not have seen them ever before. There emerges fear and excitement both as the placement starts. For all the branches, there were equal opportunities in placements. But, for the computer science department. There are generally more opportunities, that too in the vast majority of companies. The placement ratio in our college is very good. Almost all the students demanding placements would get the job. The average package received in our college is around 7-12 LPA. It is not fixed for every year, we have seen average package changes vastly in our stay of 4 years there.

There are only a few private colleges in Dehradun. It offers hostel facilities at an affordable rate. Unlike other colleges, where the majority of students take PGs and rental rooms near the college. Here, most of the college students have applied for the college hostel. In our days, the hostel charges were around 6000 per month. You get one bed, pillow, bedsheet, cupboard, study table, chair, and one common dressing table. The room is very spacious. And, one room is shared by two students. The mess of the hostel serves food four times a day. And I never had any complaints with the food quality. It is not good but it is not that bad either.

The campus is spread across one or two-acre square meters. Within this area, there are many buildings situated. These are the departments, for various courses that the college offers. The building design from the outside seems so beautiful. And from the inside, each building has a modern design with a smart lab available in most of the classrooms. There are many departments’ classes. Where, there is not as such a need for the smart lab. However, in auditoriums and halls, there are bid smart labs installed. There is one large playground. Where all the major or minor sports and cultural events take place. Other facilities such as transportation are also provided. For all the students that are not residing in the college hostels.

The campus life here at Dehradun is very fun. I was not a city local, that's why for me, Dehradun was different from the people who were living here already. Apart from this, there are many college clubs. The best thing about joining any society here is to get a backstage pass for the events conducted by that society. The parties and trips made within the society members. Me and my friend have also made several trips to nearby and far-away cities. Which are very memorable, when we look at them now.
