Indian Institute of Technology Madras B.Sc Data Science Review By Jay Kumar

This course is good for both dual degree students and for those who prefer to do this degree all alone. But it's quite tough to manage if you are dual degree student as the course content becomes quite difficult after you complete each term. If you are ready to do hard work and can give almost 40-45 hours per week apart from your institute then you should enroll in this course.

To enroll in this course you are not required to clear JEE Mains or Advanced. You can directly enroll in this course and there will be a qualifier exam after you complete first month of joining course which will be treated as quiz 1. In this exam they will ask you questions relevant to whatever they taught you in first month which is quite easy if you follow up. After you are qualified you continue your course further which is divided in term. For qualifying each term you have to attend quiz 1, quiz 2 and then end term which are conducted at intervals on 1month. If you qualify quiz 1 and quiz 2 then only you can appear for end term.

Faculties are good enough but the lectures get quite boring and professors don't even explain everything in detail. But there is a live TA session every week in which they explain you all the content of that week in detail and you can even ask and clarify your doubts with them. They are very much helpful. And I recommend you not to waste your time on lectures provided by professors just attend the live session which is more than enough for you to get good grades in this course.

I have not sat for placements yet as I am just a second year student but getting response from seniors I got to know that there are less chances to get placed from the institute but you can easily get placed for internships and give your best and gain experience then apply for offline jobs.

This course is online so there is nothing like hostel. You can complete this course from your home only and just need to attend the exams at given centers.

When I went to the institute this year, I stayed in its hostel which was allotted to me. Each student there had his own single room and personal space. I was allotted a single room. I went to library which was quite huge and the auditorium where the paradox was going to held was quite large and had so many seats. I also went to classrooms which were neat and clean and well equipped with all the basic needs like smart boards, speakers, AC's, etc.

Campus life is marvelous as I went to paradox and there I felt the real taste of living in campus. It gives you exposure and you have always something to learn there. Even you can participate in activities like cricket and other sports. You can also conduct your own activity like an E-sports tournament. You can also get help from seniors there.
