Enrolling in IIT Madras BS Data Science and Application has been a game changer for me. The rigorous curriculum paired with flexible online learning, helps me to balance myself study, and real world applications. I chose this Institute because of its quality academics, top-tier faculty, and admission procedure. It is very different from traditional degrees because of its direct industry relevance, multi-level exit facility, and hands-on experience via projects works. It offers best education with absolute adaptability, making it an ideal choice for ambitious and self-motivated learners.

I chose this program to develop industry ready skills in programming and analytics. Anyone who has passed Class 12th with any stream (Science, Commerce, Arts, or others) can apply for this program. Admission process requires completing a 4-week qualifier phase and passing the in-person qualifier exam. Academics follow a three-term pattern with weekly graded assignments, 2 monthly-invigilated quizzes (Quiz 1 & Quiz 2) and an end term exam (in each term).

Instead of paying yearly fees, you only pay per term fees of the courses you choose respectively. An initial fees application fee of Rs. 3000/- applies for the qualifier phase. The complete 4 year BS degree total cost around Rs. 3,86,000/- to Rs. 4,50,000/- across four levels, starting at Rs. 48,000/- for foundation level, Rs. 1,29,000 for foundation + one diploma, Rs. 2,10,000/- for foundation + two diplomas, and Rs. 2,86,000/- to Rs. 3,10,000/- for B.Sc degree. What makes it highly accessible is strong financial support for students with family income between 1 LPA to 5 LPA. There is also a 50% fee waiver for General, OBC, SC/ST as well as 75% fee waiver for SC/ST + PwD students.

The faculty comprises distinguished professors and industry experts with strong academic background. Lessons are delivered through pre-recorded, high quality video lectures using structured PPTs, and real world case studies. While direct 1 to 1 contact with students is limited due to high students to faculty ratio in this online setup. dedicated course instructors and TAs bridge the gap very efficiently. They host daily live sessions, active discussion forums, making the teaching staff accessible, responsive, and clear in breaking down complex concepts.

The program has dedicated ‘Industry Interaction Cell’ that manages all the placement related activities. The IIC helps you to prepare for campus drives through pre-placement training, resume building workshops, and technical assessments before granting access to their job portals. Prominent tech analytics firms and various growing startups recruit through the portal.

Since my course is an online degree program, Indian Institute of Technology Madras Chennai does not provide residential and hostel facilities to online students on permanent basis. However, The Institute arranges temporary accommodation on campus during events like annual cultural fests.

As an online program, the primary infrastructure is digital featuring the well-structured portal and high quality recorded lectures and seamless assignment tools. The students can visit the iconic 630 lush green campus of the Institute. The campus includes the facilities like central library, advance computing labs, active sports centers, and state of the art auditoriums. My favorite aspects are visiting the serene and grounds.

Campus life in this program uniquely blends virtual connectivity with real world engagement. The student crowd is incredibly diverse, ranges from fresh high school graduates to highly experienced teaching professionals. Students are grouped into 12 regional houses across India (Like Nilgiri and Corbett) and can join active societies like Code Crafters, AKORD Music, etc. The main highlight is the event ‘Paradox’, a 4 days techno-cultural-sports fest held on the campus. It also organises hackathons, sports, and cultural nights.
