IIT Madras Hostel Fees: Rooms, Food & Rules

The Institute has residential facilities. Total rooms for 2nd year students are around 300 and total students in our batch are around 900. Girls and boys hostels are separate. Mess quality is very well-maintained with food served 4 times a day. Annual hostel fee is around Rs. 50,000/-. Hostel rules and timings are not applicable for us. 1st year hostel was actually great. It was a 3 star hostel and the quality of the rooms was also great. Now in 2nd year, my hostel has been changed but still it is better than I expected. Yes, we have excellent residential facilities at our institute. In one word, hostel life is peaceful at here. I have stayed in Mandakini hostel. It has two vending machines at the each entrance in ground floor, two indoor badminton courts, one outdoor basketball court, one outdoor volleyball court, indoor GYM; reading room at every floor, an entertainment room, and each floor has about six washing machines. In addition, water dispenser is available at every corner of each floor. Infrastructure of newer buildings is very good. Occasionally various competitions are conducted by secretaries of hostel as part of recreational activities.Read Full Review
