Haldia Institute of Technology B.Tech Review By Devraj Kumar

Hello, I recently Passed out from Haldia Institute of Technology (HIT), West Bengal. The first impression of the college when I came for admission formalities was average because of the remote location. To be honest, I was disappointed because location, it’s just outside Kolkata. Don't take your decision based on the location, the college has much more to give. The most important thing is that the fees of the college are less in comparison to other private colleges. For placements, a number of companies come (some with really good packages). The campus is big and it’s really fun to explore. The 37-acre campus includes gyms, yoga rooms for boys and girls, football and cricket grounds, cafes, restaurants, and a well-equipped library. Many classrooms have smart class and air conditioning. Yes, every year fest takes place. I have enjoyed three of them and believe me it was really good. Coming to the academic part, HIT is ranked in the 201-300 position in the 'Engineering' category in the NIRF rankings 2024. Scoring here is exams is really easy even if you want to explore other technologies or prepare for a competitive exam you can give time there. I am an IT student, but I did explore different Programming Language because there was no pressure of departmental subjects. Coming to seniors, it is all up to you, how you create bond with them. Seniors are really helpful. There are lot of extracurricular activities you would want to explore. Most of them happen in even semesters. You can survive here with really low attendance. Based on the location, there is a disappointment because of lack of more facilities. It's like a Village and people are depending on college students for their income and business. On the other side, the weather in the evening is really good. I am sure you will enjoy it with my favourite “maggie bhaja” and tea.

So even if you want to explore other technologies or prepare for a competitive exam you can give time there. I did explore different Programming Languages because there was no pressure of departmental subjects and you must too give your 100% in exploring the campus.

Most faculty members are doctors from reputable Institutions like NIT’s. Faculty of HIT is friendly and supportive. Some of them are also rude but most of them are good, friendly and have supportive behavior.

For placements, a number of companies come (some with really good packages) but this year due to recession very less number of companies visited the campus in 2024.

There are 4 girl’s hostel and 6 boy’s hostel. Boy’s hostel names are Balaji P1, P2, P3, P4, and P5. Girls hostel names are Pritilata, Begam Rokeya, Matangini (for 3rd, 4th year girls), and TPS (its for 1st , 2nd year girls). Here in hostel you will get bed, mattress, pillow, table, chair, etc. with 24 hr electricity, water and Wi-Fi services. Sports facilities are also available here.

Many classrooms have smart class and air conditioning. Here you can find separate Gym for boys and separate for Girls. One Tennis room is also near the Gymnasium.

There are lot of extracurricular activities you would want to explore. Most of them happen in even semesters. And the most important thing is that all of us really enjoy it. It's like a Village and people are depended on college students for their income, business. But on the other side, the weather every evening is really good. I am sure you will enjoy it with my evening snack.
