Overall Rating
It was my dream to study marine engineering in CUSAT I have prepared myself for that one too. In India CUSAT Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering provides the best form of education for the upcoming marine engineers. Discipline, punctuality, determination and also the will to hard work is crafted in the students. For the students who are studious and are willing to become seafarers there is no better choice than KMSME.
 

Academics Rating
The Institute has Good syllabus and academic planning. Good educational facilities are provided to the students. The course admission requires a minimum of 10,000 all in India rank for IMUCET. We can also join this institute by CUSAT entrance examination which is CAT. You need to score a minimum of 60 % with PCM (physics, chemistry and mathematics). The Motive of the institute is to make good responsible cadets from normal students and give them opportunity to sail across the 7 seas.
 

Faculty Rating
There are many faculty members permanent and temporary on the basis of staff. Some of them are working with the Institute on contractual basis. All the faculty members are M.Tech graduates and there are few chief engineers who have ended their sea career and are looking forward to start a teaching career. In my opinion the classes of those Chief Engineers are comparatively good as they teach based on their life experiences.
 

Placement Rating
In our Institute they have a 100% placement for the students. Several companies start approaching the Institute from 6th semester onwards.
 

Hostel Rating
It is compulsory for the students to be hosteller in this Institute as it is part of the discipline development. To avoid home sickness of the students it’s important. The hostel and rooms are good, clean mess hall, recreation hall and also the play areas are provided as hostel facilities.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The class rooms are clean and good atmosphere to study is provided. The only drawback I personally felt was that absence of the air conditioners during the summer time gets too difficult to even concentrate in the classes. There is a ship in campus which have almost everything in terms of equipment’s, instruments, etc. It has a good area for teaching.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life in this Institute is very good as it is compulsory to stay in the hostel. We get to make lots of friends and get to know and live with people from different backgrounds. There are many Institute cultural programs held at different time period. The fests organized include sports fest (Kurukshetra) and the cultural fest (Sargam). These are too good and they create interaction between different students from different departments.

    Overall, the experience is good. Faculties are professional with required or more than required qualifications and experience. The core marine subjects are taken by retired or ongoing Chief Engineers and captains. Classrooms have enough facilities and laboratory equipment.     Studying at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering is an enriching journey. The college is well known for its excellent teaching and good infrastructure. More than ninety percentage students are placed in various national and international companies.     I should say that it is the best institute to study B.Tech in Marine Engineering in India as it gives a good environment for the students for their studies and other cultural and the extracurricular activities such as sports and arts.
