My Perception of KMSME, CUSAT

Overall Rating
Studying at Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering is an enriching journey. The college is well known for its excellent teaching and good infrastructure. More than ninety percentage students are placed in various national and international companies. This institute provides good infrastructure with modern simulator, well-equipped workshops, and ships for real world experiences. The campus has close-knit community with a disciplined routine.
 

Academics Rating
Kunjali Marakkar School of Marine Engineering has good curriculum, which ensures that a skilled Marine Engineer will pass out from this college. The core subjects include Naval Architecture, Marine Machinery, Thermodynamic, Electrical Engineering, and Marine Safety. Hands on training in simulation, workshops, etc. along with internship with other companies will be provided. Entrance exam for getting admission in this course is IMU CET.
 

Faculty Rating
Many faculty members have extensive seafaring experience. They have worked as Chief Engineer, Marine Superintendent, and the Technical Officer of International Companies. Faculty members typically hold higher degrees in Marine Engineering, Naval Architecture, Mechanical Engineering, and related. They have a good connection with shipping companies, maritime organization, and regulatory body. Several professors are involved in maritime research also.
 

Placement Rating
Yes, we have a placement cell in our institute that connects with companies and provide placement to students.
 

Hostel Rating
Yes, we have residential facilities in our campus. It has good hostel facilities with all the basic facilities.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college has spacious, ventilated classrooms with all modern outfittings like projector, smart board, audio and visual aid. Each of them has comfortable seating arrangement, which provides interactive learning experience. The engine room lab provides full-scale engine models, propulsion system, and simulator that replicate real life engine room experience. There is also a well stocked library with large number of books, research papers, journals, and digital information is also available.
 

Campus Rating
The student body comprises of individuals from different parts of India creating multi-cultural environment. As a Marine Engineering institute, discipline is the core value. However, this will not compromise the friendly atmosphere in the campus and collaborative atmosphere wren senior and junior work together. Annual tech fest named ‘Propulzo’ is conducted and also annual sports meet and arts meet are conducted.

    Overall, the experience is good. Faculties are professional with required or more than required qualifications and experience. The core marine subjects are taken by retired or ongoing Chief Engineers and captains. Classrooms have enough facilities and laboratory equipment.     I should say that it is the best institute to study B.Tech in Marine Engineering in India as it gives a good environment for the students for their studies and other cultural and the extracurricular activities such as sports and arts.
