SRM University Kattankulathur B.Tech Review By Yatin Kaushik

SRM University was recommended to me by some relative and I honestly do not regret taking admission in it because of the lot of facilities is available here, which are not available anywhere else. That's why this university is one of the best. The teachers are very supportive, the campus area is very safe as cultured civilized people come from different parts of the country at one place, and so we get to explore new cultures. The placements are also very nice and the average package is also my course is around 10 LPA that is pretty good considering it’s a private university and I am very grateful to be admitted in it.

The academic part is also very good. You are admitted in the course through an admission entrance test of SRM University, which is conducted online. There is not much eligibility required for this course. I think because you had to score good in the entrance test, which was conducted online. The course is good. It conducts internal exams thrice every semester and at the end of the semester, there is one main exam, which is conducted. Other than these assessments, there are also quizzes conducted in class and there is some project based learning. In addition, the course that I have enrolled for right now B.Tech CSE has tuition fee 4.5 Lakh for me but I think it has increased to 5 Lakh now per annum and I think it's a little high but well I have to pay it now.

Most of the faculty is from South India originally. The faculty knows mostly Tamil and English so all of the people communicate in English, which is the main language there. They can teach like pretty good and have ample of experience. They are also highly qualified have relevant degrees in their respective domains.

There is a one-placement cell and which is actually pretty good. I have heard, it is pretty good. Most of the companies that come are pretty good. There are three categories of the companies. For my specific course, the average package is 10 LPA. I think and the placement rate is almost 100%. I mean it's above 90 I know that for sure. It also trains all the students so that they can do well during the interviews.

Yes, we do have residential facilities in SRM University. I myself have been living in the hostel for almost two years now. I have chosen a non-AC and common washroom. There are a lot of options like AC is available and even attached washroom in combinations. I've chosen three sharing room but there are 2 sharing and 4 sharing and even 5 sharing rooms are available, depending on how much you are willing to pay them. The hostel which I am living in right now charges approximately 1.25 Lakh Per Annum but if you go for AC 3 sharing and attached washroom, it becomes almost two 2.5 LPA, which is pretty high for me. hostel has sports equipment which we carry to the ground and we play cricket mostly. There are multiple wardens in every hostel. There are like five hostels for 1st year, 5 for 2nd year and almost the same for other two as well. The infrastructure is also nice. The hostel is pretty safe and there is every day attendance taken at the hostel. There are also hostel games conducted every year which are I think a good way of introducing cooperation and teamwork among the students. So yes, hostel is really nice.

The campus infrastructure is really good. It is having one main campus, which is like 20 years old, there is a university building, which is pretty advanced, there is a tech park and there is a tech park 2, which has been built recently after I went to college only. Therefore, there are multiple buildings for different courses. In one classroom, there are almost 60 students at once so the professor can focus on every single one of them. There is a big canteen called Java in the campus and you can eat everything. There is a subway available. There are also multiple shops in that. There is a library, which has books for all the courses and also some novels. There are multiple labs as well like some for engineering drawing, some for programming and there is also a lab, which only has iMac. There is also an auditorium, which has capacity of 4000.

Campus life is pretty basic. There are two main fests every year called Aarush and Milan but the thing is they charge a fee. Like it was charging Rs. 1400 for Aarush. However, there are mini road shows and some mini events in the college regularly in almost two every month, which are free of course, but the thing is there are only for 1st year students. I used to go in them and when I was in first year but now it doesn't let us go there so which is pretty bad. There are lot of clubs also like all the music dance and these are part of dash which is directorate of student affairs and there is also directorate of alumni affairs and there are also technical clubs like Newton and Google Labs and Github and coding ninjas these all. The crowd which comes there is usually from the rich families and some of them are uncultured people which don't know how to behave and all but most of the crowd is good.
