RGIPT Amethi Premier Petroleum Institute: Courses and Placements

Under the Act of Parliament, RGIPT has the status of An Institute of national importance, that was established in 2008 by Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, Govt. of India. As per the latest NIRF 2024 rankings, RGIPT rank is #80 under Engineering category. Overall, for Petroleum and Chemical branch it is one of the best Institutes out there competing with even IIT Dhanbad (ISM). For tech branches such as CSE, CSD, EC, EV etc. there are new addition to the Institute. This holds a lot of potential in the upcoming years. For placements in tech branches, it is average and it could see a rapid boost in upcoming years.

My course is a 5 year integrated course with B.Tech + M.Tech in CSE in specialization offered AL ML. The Eligibility criteria is first though JEE Advance rank and then if seats are vacant then preference is given to students based on JEE Main and 80% above in boards. Placement cell in this Institute is constantly evolving for the betterment of students but especially for tech branches which are newly introduced. There are a few challenges ahead. A student from tech branch needs to be self sufficient and cannot be dependent only on Institute for placements and internships un like in the case of Petroleum and Chemical Branches which is very good here.

RGIPT is a residential Institute and the hostel and academic fee is included in the semester fee structure. You can check it on their website for updated fee structure, currently it is Rs. 1,36,500 for GEN/OBC/EWS and Rs 1,11500 for SC/ST/PWD in the first semester. Maybe It can vary around this fee only for rest of semesters. Mess fee is Rs 20,000 per semester but they provide refund based on number of leaves after semester end.

The faculty members in my course are highly knowledgeable particularly about their course. Mathematics department is excellent. CSE department has experienced faculty from IIT and other national Institutes. The faculties are extremely helpful and guidance is provided by them, but you need to be vocal and reach out to them by yourself for personal attention and guidance. Teacher student ratio here is decent. Only thing is that they are strict about the subjective courses and to get good grades you really need to push hard.

The Institute has a placement cell. For tech branches CSE, CSD, MNC, IDD, EC, EV they are given option to go to Bangalore Campus of RGIPT for better placement and internship opportunities in the final year of their course. Recently, students got placed in good companies with decent packages around 10-24+ LPA in Phonepe, Nvidia, JP Morgan, and many more. Average package for CSE branch can be expected to be 10-12 LPA.

Institute has residential facility in campus. Each student is allotted a room along with one roommate. Boys and girls hostel are completely separate. Mess food is fine and better as compared to most of the Institutes. Mess provides breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner. The taste of food is mostly like North Indian food masala and stuff. Gala dinner is held on every month's first Saturday where the food taste is excellent and tasty. Rooms are hygienic and there is a common washroom on each floor with sufficient space. Hostel also provides washing machine and water cooler on each floor. There is no restriction for timing outside hostel. The students are allowed to be in the campus 24x7. Timings for outside campus are 9am till 8 pm. You have to issue a gate pass prior if you have some plans to go out.

Campus size is decent with area spread over 49 acres. There is Library, Auditorium, Conference Hall, Academic block, RG plaza, Various labs and all necessary facilities. The campus is not too big. Regarding sports facilities it is limited to badminton court, tennis court, basketball court, table tennis court, cricket ground (small), football ground, etc. It is enough to enjoy the sport and relax a bit from academic stress. For students the night canteen opens from 10pm to 3am. During the day, Aunty's Cafe has delicious hygienic meals from morning till 8pm. There are lots of security guards and the campus is under surveillance 24x7. The campus is safe for girls as there are enough female security staff. The classrooms are enough for almost 150 students.

Institute’s crowd is pretty good with some really interesting fellows that you're going to meet. There are multiple events being conducted frequently including tech fest, 'URJOTSAV,' Sports fest, 'Energia' , Cultural fest, 'Kaltarang' where students from different Institutes visit to participate. Along with these there are multiple more fun events being conducted. There is Sports Club, Music Club, Dance club, Drama Club, Literary club, Film and Cinematography club etc. The campus is situated a bit outside the city life so it has fresh air and a healthy lifestyle. Students can go to Raebareli and Lucknow for city life benefits during weekends. Overall there is less distractions here for students. Although you find a lot of sources to keep yourself engaged and enjoy your Institute life along with studies.
