Fee Structure and Financial Aid Opportunities at IPCW Delhi

Indraprastha College for Women (IPCW), University of Delhi (UoD) was my first preference. Reflecting on my time at this college, I am truly filled with the sense of gratitude. The college provides you with transformative educational experience that extends beyond just academics. The college offers a wide range of courses that would cater your interests. The faculty is knowledgeable, approachable, and encouraging. They would provide you guidance and mentorship throughout your journey. The college is known for its rigorous curriculum. It has modern infrastructure, patience classroom and well-equipped laboratories and a vast library. The factor that makes it unique among the cluster of colleges is it's a heritage site as it was once the residence of a commander-in-chief during the colonial period of India. The college has a beautiful history and a flourishing present. It has a thriving campus life with various societies and numerous extracurricular activities. It has excellent cultural and sports facilities including a sports complex, a very big ground, an auditorium, a swimming pool, etc. The college has a safe and secure campus, with 24/7 security and CCTV surveillance. It is located at the heart of the capital of India, which makes it easily accessible by public transports. These factors combined made IPCW the ideal choice for me.

Now, I am going to mention about the unique factor of the college. IPCW is the only college in DU that offers the course that I am enrolled in, called BMMMC (Bachelor’s in Multi Media and Mass Communication). I am an aspiring media journalist and that's why I made the choice to get myself a seat in this course. After a few weeks of admission, the college gives an identity card that is originally provided by UoD, which is required every time you enter the campus. To get into it, I had to sit for the CUET exam conducted by NTA (National Testing Agency), then fill phase 1 and phase 2 forms on CSAS portal, which demands you to fill your preferences in terms of college. My first preference was IPCW and CUET score was 650/800. During the admission rounds conducted, I was fortunately offered a seat in IPCW in the first round itself. The college also conducted an orientation program at the beginning of 1st semester where parents of the wards were also invited. Coming back to the semester process, apart from the final semester exams, we have IA (Internal Assessment) & CA (Continuous Assessment), File Practicals, External Examinations, etc. Marks distribution differs from subject to subject. Apart from these, we are given really interesting activities to perform, like filming different films, etc. These activities resemble real life experiences that we are going to have in future in our work areas. Somewhere, these experiences help us discover the areas in which we are interested, immersed, and skilled too and the areas, which need attention for improvements.

The course, which I am in, is self-financed. Fee for first year is Rs. 1,00,025. The charges for college facilities constitute the most of this amount, i.e. Rs. 1,19,680, tuition fee amounts to Rs. 180, along with other minimal charges. SC and ST students, whose parents don't pay income tax, are exempted from tuition and admission fee. Any foreign student has to pay additional fee of Rs. 18,000. If they are enrolled in B.Sc. in CS or BA in MMMC, they have paid additional fee of Rs 1,94,000 (this is applicable for the students from any foreign country other than SAARC countries). The fee reduces to Rs. 90,000 or Rs. 80,000 in second and third year. There is no system of fee discounts or concessions. Instead, the students from any reserved category accrue benefits during the admission process. Rather than this, the forms for financial assistance are out every year and applications are accepted from the students who have a minimum of 66.66% attendance and belong to the EWS category.

Faculty members here are highly qualified, experienced, and professional in their respective fields. Many of them hold PhD or are post-graduate from renowned universities (e.g. IIMC) who bring a wealth of knowledge and experience to the classroom. They generally employ a variety of methods to engage us in learning lectures, discussions, projects, guest lectures, debates, presentations, case studies, etc. They encourage us to think critically and ask questions based on it. The approximate teacher to student ratio is 1:40, which brings personalized attention and mentorship to students. I share a wonderful bonding with my faculty members. They are approachable, supportive, and genuinely interested in my growth. They create a nurturing and inclusive environment. They have contributed significantly to my academic and personal growth.

IPCW is known for its infrastructure in the entire DU campus. It is a known heritage site as well, which inhibits huge variety of biodiversity in flora and fauna. The campus is really clean, sanitized, and full of greens. My department is specifically has AC equipped and spacious classrooms, studio, makeup room, Multi Media Lab, etc. Apart from this, the college has a very big library, computer & science laboratories, washrooms (equipped with vending machines for sanitary pads), audio-visual room, AVLT room, confidence hall, seminar hall, auditorium, swimming pool, sports complex, and a very big playground as well. The medical, transport and security team and the reporting mechanism is always active. Apart from the college canteen, we have Nescafe and Amul canteens inside the campus as well. I generally love to sit in the sun in the playground or play badminton, table tennis in the courts. The library has really been helpful for me as I study here for hours with no disturbance at all and it is air conditioned too.

My campus life is incredible journey of growth, learning, and self-discovery. The campus is a vibrant and dynamic hub of activity, with a diverse range of students, faculty, and staff. The campus was spread over several acres, with modern and well-maintained buildings, state-of-the-art facilities, and beautiful gardens. The college celebrates various events and festivals throughout the year, including cultural festivals, literary events, and sports tournaments. These events bring the campus community together, fostering a sense of unity and belonging.
