Fee Structure and Financial Aid at Delhi University's Faculty of Technology

To sum it up this is a new Institute, an initiative by VC of DU, Yogesh Singh. Many may think it is an entirely new Institute, a du version of DTU. Let me tell you FOT existed from around 1940’s. My experience at FOT was kind of mix since it’s relatively new so it lacks many essential things. Youngsters like me are attracted towards Clubs, Societies, etc. But while it may lack in extra curriculum activities, it is surely ahead in terms of studies than other Institutes of India. With coding and DSA from very 1st year and latest syllabus pattern so chemistry and English teachers are from DTU, IIT, IISC, etc. Plus we have centralized AC and all new equipment's so yeah its fun around here.

It follows latest updated curriculum. Unlike other traditional B.Tech Institutes like IIT, DTU, BIT, VIT, etc. has coding and DSA from the beginning. Also we don't have to study Subjects like English and Chemistry in 1st year. It's Teaching Faculty also consists of well educated and experienced teachers from IITS, DTU, IISCs, etc. Honestly the coding paper we had was way difficult then the DTU one as we students compared both. Although math is not that strong in FOT. We have exams in every 2.5 months and yes we all prepare a week before exams.

The present yearly fees is Rs. 2.24 lakh per year which is too much for a government Institute and is more on the side of private Institute as well. We also can claim fee reduction based on parental income, 50% for less than 4 lakh and 90% for less than 1 lakh family income per annum.

The faculty is experienced and well educated hailing from IITS, DTU, IISC, etc. They are all very ambitious and almost all are friendly. The student teacher ratio is around 1:80 for theory classes and 1:45 for practical and labs. We have smart board like the one now YouTube teachers use to educate students in every room. They also guide us from time to time on various ways to up skill ourselves. Faculty is all in all around 9 /10.

Can't say anything since the 1st batch will pass out in 2027.

We have no hostel, so people usually take PG’s and Flats to live near Institute. Those who have family or relatives in Delhi usually Up/Down.

In terms of infrastructure, we have an advantage with centralized AC, lifts, smart boards, and the latest equipment at FOT. We also have access to the DU Central Science Library, stadium, gym, and the picturesque North Campus of DU, featuring lush greenery. My favorite part is having a centralized AC which helps to counter the sweaty summers and heat waves of Delhi. We do need to share our temporary buildings with Faculty of Law, while our separate building is under construction.

Overall, I would rate my campus life as a 6/10 due to the lack of clubs, societies, and events, including a fresher’s party. However, we have a solid foundation for quality education comparable to DTU and IIT’s. We are actively working to establish clubs and organize various events. So I will give it a thought if you want to pursue B.Tech from a prestigious Institute like DU.
