Admission: Cracking Maharashtra CET and JEE for KJSIT Mumbai

I have been in K J Somaiya Institute of Technology for nearly 4 years, What I like about the institute is the peers with whom I study. The students of the institute get various opportunities where they can use their skills and showcase their proficiency in whichever field they want and the opportunities are high level opportunities. The institute provides many placement opportunities which vary from mass recruiters to product based companies. The best branch in the institute is Computer Science branch, which is the branch with highest cut-off and most placed students are from this branch. There are in total four branches Computer Science, Artificial Intelligence & Data Science, Information Technology, and Electronics & Telecommunication.

I choose Artificial Intelligence and Data Science as my branch. I choose this branch because it is an upcoming field and has many future prospects, if we opt for MS in future, choosing this field can be really helpful for such instances and same goes for Masters in India. To get admission in the institute you have two paths but you have to give Maharashtra CET exam but you can take admission based on both CET score and JEE Main score. You need to score above 90 percentile to get admission in the institute in CET but if you want the best branch your score should be at least 95 percentile in CET. For 1st year students of all branch have common subjects and the subject are Chemistry, Physics, Mechanics, Mathematics, and BEE (Electronics). These subjects are of 1st semester. In the 2nd semester of 1st year the students have Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Engineering Drawing and one coding subject is added which is C Programming. From 2nd year proper coding subject starts for all branches like Data Structure, Algorithms and Analysis of Algorithm. And, for Electronics and Telecommunication branch hardware related subject are added like Arduino.

The total fee of the K J Somaiya Institute of Technology is approximately Rs. 1, 95,000 for any branch but if you have a caste certificate and if you are not from open category, then you can avail this benefit and also your admission should be through Maharashtra CET exam.

Most of the faculties teach through PPTs and the numerical related subject it is taught on blackboards. There are two subjects related to communication in which group discussions are conducted. There is also Faculty Review System in each semester but I don't know if this makes a difference. Also parent teacher interactions are conducted on regular basis regarding the performance of the students.

The institute provides various opportunities for students to showcase their skills like hackathons based on that the students can get internships or job opportunities. K J Somaiya Institute of Technology provides many placement opportunities which vary from mass recruiters to product based companies. Mass recruiters like Accenture, Cognizant, LTI, and Mindtree which give average package of 4-5 LPA and take on average 25-30 students each. Other companies like IDFC first and others do visit the campus but take fewer candidates, but they provide offers of around 10-14 LPA package.

For hostel you can stay in either Somaiya Vidyavihar University campus or newly made hostel at K J Somaiya Institute of Technology, Ayurvihar. The Ayurvihar campus hostel is near to the institute. The name of the Ayurvihar campus hostel is Ashtavakra Hostel and it is newly made and it is very well made. The rooms are spacious and clean. the yearly fee for this hostel is approximately Rs. 2,70,000 for a student. But there is also dormitory option here which costs approximately Rs. 92,000 for a student.

In K J Somaiya Institute of Technology Campus there is also a hospital, medical institute and physiotherapy institute. The location of institute is in Sion, Mumbai and the campus is located near Chunabhatti Station. The campus is huge with a big and proper football ground, proper Volleyball ground and a small turf. Some classrooms are big and some are rather small in comparison. The big Classrooms can fit 60-80 students and small ones which fit 30-40 students.

Overall Campus life is good at K J Somaiya Institute of Technology as various technical, cultural and sports events are conducted. There are also various committees that conduct their own events throughout the year. There are also industrial visits to various places like Tarapur Plant and Reliance Industry visits where you can get familiar with industry trends and also gain internship opportunities in some cases. The Cultural festival Surge is conducted once a year in March in which dance competition department wise and singing and other such activities take place, there is also DJ night and sometimes famous celebrities are also invited in the fests and events. The sports festival which is Score is also conducted in month of March. In it various sports activities like Volleyball, Cricket, Football, Badminton, turf football, Dodge ball, Box cricket, chess, carrom, Table tennis, Pushups competition, pull ups competition and other such events are conducted.
