Living the IIT Reverie at IIT Dhanbad

Overall Rating
I have experienced a good atmosphere at this university, which helps me to have self-confidence. I opted for this institute as it is in the middle of the town unlike other institutions, which were quite in the outskirts of cities. It also has great facilities like any other IIT and so helps in boosting one's career. It is quite famous and old. It was established in 1926 and so soon, it is going to have a century.
 

Academics Rating
I have chosen a Bachelor of Technology in Mathematics and Computing because I had a great interest in this course. I love the course as it provides me opportunities to go to any stream I want in this digital world. It is unbounded unlike Computer Science where we only dive deep into software skills whereas here we can also get exposure to the algorithm behind every computer program, which helps, in Machine Learning and Artificial intelligence, which is the future of the world.
We pay fee on semester basis. Its breakdown is as follows: Rs. 1,00,000 as tuition fee 18,000 as mess fee. Some other feed like caution deposit, insurance and registration charges are included. There are special discounts based on family income as well as categories. There is also several scholarship exams through which almost the entire fee is waived off and one can get some pocket expenses.
 

Faculty Rating
The teachers are helpful. They provide a clear overview of the course before it start. Every professor is graduated from top universities and so they are qualified for the profession. The teachers use creative animations and slides to teach and interact with students. We are also provided with mentors to share our any type of problems whether it is personal or academics. The teachers are also too friendly and teach in interactive way.
 

Placement Rating
The placement sessions are very good here. Many companies come and take students in bulk. They get several job roles. The average package offered in my branch is 30 LPA. The maximum was 84 LPA. The top recruiters are Amazon, Google, Microsoft, Accenture, and Texas Instruments. Almost all tech giants come here for hiring us.
 

Hostel Rating
There are separate hostels for every year and even course. The mess is average but sometimes performs better than other universities' mess food. The hostels are too big. Rooms for first year are small but then we have big rooms every year. There is no hostel fee; we just have to pay the mess fees.
 

Infrastructure Rating
We have access to Wi-Fi every time throughout the campus at a good speed. Classrooms have proper ventilation system and every classroom has a digital board. The library is Asia’s 2nd largest technical library. We have a health centre, which is free for all, and it has all necessary facilities. There are also different shops and cafeterias at the ground floor of the library, which provides a good place to hang out, and are open until late night.
 

Campus Rating
There is quite an enormous amount of engaging events for students as well as employees, which are fascinating. These events also help in increasing the connection of the students especially with the alumni who are at great position in this world. We have many fests as well as clubs, which help in interacting. The fests are divided into technical and cultural as well as sports, which helps in increasing the spirits to enjoy the campus life.

    Our institute is one of the oldest institutes with an NIRF rank of 15th in engineering category. It recently was labeled as IIT. The existing institute campus area is about 218 acres consisting of 15 hostels occupied by students enrolled in various courses (Ph.D, B.Tech, M. Tech, etc). Also, there is a Student Activity Centre (SAC) which allows students interested in sports / acting / singing / dancing / swimming to engage themselves in their hobbies.     For me, I have just completed my first semester here and starting to fall in love with my institute. The rain and the red color of ISM combine to probably give the best view. Not very big campus but still it seems largest when you are running late for the labs and classes. RD, Mehzban, Dominos, Barista are there to address the food craving monster inside you.     First of all it should be remembered that it's ISM before IIT. Overall experience is better. As a South Indian I felt difficult to connect with Hindi language and also to the food as most of our diet is filled with potato. The experience about studies is good.     Generally all know Indian Institute Technology is the best colleges in India which we get after clearing JEE advanced exam. Indian Institute of Technology which is also called as Indian School of Mines is a better college for future and has good scope in the future.
