National Institute of Technology M.Tech Review By Sandeep Sharma

National Institute of Technology Delhi is one of the latest entrants in NITs but is still among the best. NIT Delhi is without an iota of doubt the best place to study and chill. One problem that I was trying to find and I have found two so will mention them at the beginning as many green shoots are following post that. The first one is the gender ratio as it is 8:1 in favor of boys and secondly is the mess food because that really sucks. It was difficult for me to adjust to both but studies took the front seat and the rest was occupied by a splendid hostel life. Pressure was never high here but let me tell you one thing that college taught us the best was how to absorb the pressure. The firepower here was strengthened to the core as education, campus life, and the placements were taken care of brilliantly.

The hangover of not being placed after B. Tech was something that most students carried in common and during the orientation program that hangover was removed. So, I have always believed in start and the start was so pin point that rest just followed. One additional thing that I would like to add is that whenever I talked with my friends or the others, they were like you must be studying so let me just hang up the phone. Oh hello, 98% of the students here study just a week before the exams as we just have to pay attention in the classes and have nothing to worry after that. So, yes, it is NIT and yes, I was doing M. Tech but as is said that the best learning college provided was to soak in the pressure, so I never took that and still passed all my exams in one shot.

The faculties made us prepared for a 10 for 3 scenarios where we might not have the best of days and in exams something might come that we have missed but how to get over that was one of the prime learning. They developed a team culture kind of thing in the class as students were taught in a manner to help out your fellow students rather than just doing leg pulling. So, to pull out the situations is what our faculties made us learn and their methods and teaching skills were peerless.

Well, the placements were like the spring season as they didn’t just happen but they blossomed. Well one doesn’t have to worry about the placements at all as the placements might not be at par with other NITs but still were realistically 100% because those who failed obviously are not eligible. Companies like Microsoft, Adobe, Tech Mahindra, Happiest Minds, and others have come to the campus and hired students at the figures higher than any private institutions. NITs competition in placements can only happen with NITs as if I chuck out IITs, no private colleges can provide as good a placements as NITs or for that matter NIT Delhi does.

The hostels were excellent as boys hostel blocks were in Narela campus. There were 14 or rather 16 buildings in each block that had 8 flats in each block. NIT Delhi hostel rooms were clean and even the balconies were provided in each room. One could sit at those balconies and wave at the friends staying in other buildings of the block. The only issue which I have already addressed is of food because I don’t know who was the one who decided on that menu that had nothing significant even on Sunday’s.

The classrooms were purposely kept small for M. Tech as not more than 40 students were included in one section of M. Tech. Every class was recorded and one can take the recording from college’s ERPU. The wall turned into blackboard as there was a smart board but still derivatives and all which require an entire wall to explain were explained on the wall through projectors. Moving on the central facilities at the campus include a medical hospital inside the campus and two ambulances available to take students to the hospital as the college was far off from such facilities. The library was great but because we had to leave the campus by 5, the library also used to get close by then. There were 6-7 canteens at the campus and they have taken care of many south Indian dishes as two of those canteens had just south Indian dishes on their menu. The sporting facilities were excellent too as there were multiple sports ground both at the hostel facilities and the main campus.

NIT Delhi campus life was amazing as the bus used to take us to the campus at 8.30 pm and we left the campus at 5 pm, so around 8 hours at the campus were full on fun and laughter. The college hosts one of the best cultural fests in Saptrang where many celebrities are invited and students too performed just like the celebrities.
