Ujjain Engineering College: JEE Scores and Counseling Process

I am content with the overall experience of the college. It is a very affordable college with quite decent facilities located in a good city especially for the nearby districts people. Great for people who want to pursue B.Tech with a government tag. The main reason I opted for the institute is because of me being a local and it being very close to me so I can focus on other activities and work I have.

The course I am pursuing is B.Tech in Electrical Engineering. Admission process to UEC is done through JEE score through MPDTE counselling. Once you are allotted a seat here you need to physically visit the college in 3 days of time and confirm your admission. It's a very easy and quick process. Cutoff scores through JEE depends on the branch. For CSE, ECE you need 80+ percentile and for the lower branches like Chemistry, Civil you can get them at even 20-60 percentile. Frequency of exams is quite hectic they take 3 mid semester and in every semester there are particular assignments, internals and practical.

The yearly tuition fees for all the branches is Rs.25,000/- for all categories, along with Rs.1,000/- to Rs.2000/- of registration and caution fees but that's just for the first year. Other than that there are 5% TFW (Tuition Fee Waiver) seats that cost zero tuition fees for the course of 4 years and you only have to pay exam and caution fees. You can apply for TFW seats at the time of counseling. Then for OBC & SC/ST you have the Medhavi scholarship for which you can apply easily and get all the fees back guaranteed.

Faculty to student ratio is decent, multiple faculties can teach you a single subject and same Professor can teach in multiple branches. They are very approachable and look out for you in case of any doubts or difficulties. Electrical facilities have a bad reputation about them as I have heard. Attendance plays a big role in getting the internal marks other than that exams are easy to pass even if you give a slight attention to studies you're pretty good to go.

There is a placement cell which trains and gives all the information about placements, and they also update you about internship opportunities. It is very beneficial to join the training and placement group in first year itself. Although you can't depend upon campus placements completely as the average package is around Rs.3.00 to Rs.4.00 lakhs and placement percentage around 40-50%.

Yes there are separate girls and boy’s hostels but the boy’s hostel is not under use as it is in poor condition and under renovation. Girl’s hostel is pretty good and located very near to the college with good facilities and safety. College canteen is useless and it is always empty and just a place to hangout.

Infrastructure is very old as this is a very old established college. Campus is pretty small in size but not too bad. Classrooms are okay too and every classroom has a smart board and the labs are well maintained too. Auditorium, libraries are good too and well equipped. Although there is no medical, transport and any sorts of those facilities. My favorite thing about the campus is probably the college ground because of the sports.

Campus life in here is very mixed, it's either fun or nothing at all. Not a lot of fests or events take place annually as far as I know. There is one college fest that takes place every year and other than that there are departmental events organised by specific branches like ‘Vidhyut’ by electrical branch and ‘Techno’ by CSE. Library is good with access to a large variety of books. You get a library card but there is some issue with the issuing of certain category of library books whereas some categories get to issue more no. of books at a time than others which might be a government policy, I don't have much idea about that. Sports in the college are okay, there's a sports fest and then for MP Nodal’s, the college has teams for every sport. A lot of cultural and tech clubs are there in the college and they really engage and ask you to participate which is a great thing as it adds to the extra skills of the students. Some clubs are cultural club, entrepreneurship club, etc.
