Bennett University MBA Review By Virat Chauhan

Bennett University started the very year I joined as I was confused between doing M. Tech or MBA. I thought I have learned technical things enough and now it was time for me to upgrade my CV with a management course and that was the sole reason of my joining Bennett University. I didn’t give any single entrance and the university just took one written test and an interview which I know was a formality because only I know how they went and still I was called that I have been selected. Since, the university is owned by the Times Group, I knew no matter what I will be placed and didn’t took any second chance or thought of dropping for a year and prepare for CAT or GATE. Exploring the management studies at Bennett University Greater Noida was an experience of life time. The crowd that makes the life interesting at a college was pretty chilled out here as we all knew at the back of our mind that we have come here just by looking at the reputation that the brand name The Times Group has.

For a university in India, adopting a course straight from foreign university was unique. It was considered a gimmick but now if you look at B-Schools, everyone is going the same path. The simple reason is that businesses have now global as Indian exports have grown leaps and bounds in last few years. We were taught about foreign reserves the functionality and the roles of central banks all across the world. Many of the terms were unheard of but I unleashed them all at Bennett University because the teaching was done in a way that students will find interest in it. Every day I woke up with new excitements because I knew I will be learning something that is not just exciting but something that a person in general should know.

Faculties were good to me and in return I was good to them. All the faculties were vastly experienced and were passed out from IITs and IIMs. Since, we were the first batch, the students were quite few and that allowed the faculties to concentrate more on us. Some students even after getting so much of attention were not able to perform but they faculties never gave up on them. I have seen in my previous college that faculties used to tell such students as gone case but at least not here. So, the never give up on students and helping to the moon was how the faculties of Bennett University were.

Placements happened well before as the university started later but they made tie-ups beforehand with over 100 companies. Since, the curriculum had many technical and managerial things that were industry specific, getting placed was just a formality. Almost every one even the ones who weren’t serious or performance not up to the mark were placed with a package of 4 lakhs around. The average was over 6 lakhs because some students nailed it and my previous degree was put to use here as the ones with engineering background were preferred over the others. So, placement part is absolutely sorted at the Bennett University.

Before checking anything else, I checked Bennett University hostels and they were truly amazing. One thing which I forgot to check was that it doesn’t have attached washrooms and that was the only short coming. There were five shower stalls at each floor and six washrooms on each floor of the hostel. They were enough but still a common washroom is a common washroom. The fees was quite high but when you get beans on toast for breakfast at the mess, you tend to forget about the fees because such English breakfast are available only at top hotels or at Bennett University mess.

A 68-acre sprawling campus was underdeveloped then as the studio got developed in 2018, the year I left the college. I think only NCR college campuses have studio or the radio stations because even today when I discuss the Bennett University Campus and infrastructure with my colleagues who did their MBA from Pune or Bengaluru. There were three computer labs but my favorite was the I-Mac lab as I didn’t looked beyond that. The administrative blocks and all were fantastic too but the stood out part of the campus was Atrium which was like a student lounge.

In 2016, we didn’t have many events other than festivals that were celebrated at the campus. Many student’s clubs and committees were formed and in 2017, we witnessed the grandest annual event in Euphoria which had many celebrity guests. I don’t know if it was the grandest but coming from a small town of Haryana watching such things live was unimaginable in any of my dreams. Even if I would have dreamt of as soon my eyes got opened, I would have realized it was only just a dream. So, campus life here was a dream.
