Amity University Noida's Forensic Science Course

My overall experience at Amity is bitter sweet, I would say. I have a love hate relationship with it. It is quite expensive but the studies compensate for it in a way I guess. The reason why I chose this University was because it was easy to get into and it is renowned for Forensic Science studies. I find the study system different than other Universities. The subjects are taught quite thoroughly and are somewhat enjoyable.

The course chosen by me is Bachelors in Forensic Science. I enrolled in this course because I always wanted to do something out of the ordinary like apart from Engineering and Medicine, what most people like to chose. Forensic Science fit my preference perfectly. The eligibility criteria are PCB or PCM with percentage above 55% and an additional interview process for applicants with a score below 90%. The admission process requires one to fill up an admission form that costs Rs. 1,500. Exams are held twice a semester, once mid semester and once at the end of Semester. The academic pressure really prepares the students for the real world challenges and specially manages time pressure.

The annual fee for my course would be above Rs. 2,00,000 approximately. If seen semester vise, it is Rs. 89,000. The Fee amount including tuition, admission and hostel fee would be Rs. 3,00,000+. There are no discounts for the general category. Yes, there is a financial aid option that is paying the fee in installments through a third party called gray quest.

The faculty members are quite average. Some of the teachers do know what they are teaching while others do not. I do not have much idea about their background but we do have many Ph.D scholars teaching us. Most of the teachers use PPT’s to teach. Their problem solving abilities are above average. The teacher-student ratio would be around 20:1000 per department. Faculty members are pretty approachable and we can feel free to approach them for our problems.

Regarding the placement opportunities, I do not have information as of now since I am a first year student.

Yes, there is hostel facility on campus. The facilities provided in the hostel can be improvised and even the wardens can be a little less strict. The rooms are not at all worth the money. We cannot go out during weekends, cannot roam around campus after 9 pm. The in time is set as pre considering students d\safety though. We cannot keep anything except milk in the fridge in NON AC hostel. The hygiene should also be improvised. Boys and girls hostels are separate. Mess food is below average. Breakfast, lunch and dinner are served at separate times and snacks are mostly available throughout the day.

The campus’s academic blocks are well designed; however, they could have been a bit more vibrant from the inside. The interior of the blocks are pretty dull, boring and cold. The campus size is 60 acres and the locality is quite lonely. Classrooms are vibrant and the best part is the seating arrangement. One classroom can occupy up to 65 students approximately. The only AV aid required is the projector. The Library is one of the best parts of the campus and it provides a great environment for studying and working in peace. Labs are also pretty good. Seminar halls and Auditoriums are pretty spacious. The canteen’s food is below average. We have to pay for each meal that we eat separately. There is also an on campus clinic. Security is too high. My favorite thing about my University is the Library. We are not allowed to use the elevator and we have to climb 4 floors no matter the situation.

The overall campus life is average. Roaming around the campus in the evenings is fun. We are not allowed to even roam inside the campus after 9 pm for security purpose. On top of that, the on campus stores are mediocre. The University crowd is average. There are a lot of clubs, for example for my department, we have a crime scene investigation club and it is quite interesting. There are multiple activities being held by the University from time to time like poetry writing competition, chess matches, sports matches, etc. The annual fest is called Amity Youth Fest which is held around March and it lasts for about 5 to 7 days. My experience about campus life is below average.
