College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani: A Great Experience

Overall Rating
My overall experience at College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani in the last 3 years has been great and hopefully it will be even better in the upcoming years. The college, hospital and the hostel campus are separate and it's huge. Sports facilities are also available both indoor and outdoor. There's less pollution and disturbance in and around the campus. The college is under the administrative control of the West Bengal University of Health Sciences.
 

Academics Rating
I'm a MBBS student at College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani. I've enrolled for this course as I had a dream of being one of the first generation doctors in my family and I'm living my dream currently and hopefully it'll get better in the future. Admission is strictly based on NEET score. Students have to report to the allotted college and they'll be admitted on the same day after necessary verification. Frequent PCTs and semester exams are held in this college so it's pretty hectic on the academics part.
Academic fees: Rs. 9,000 per year. The Hostel fee is Rs. 1,200 per year and Security Deposit (One Time) is Rs. 3,000 (refundable). The fee is same for all categories. Scholarships are also provided from the State as well as Central Government. Necessary steps to be followed as directed by the dean section.
 

Faculty Rating
College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani has adequate number of faculty members and support staff who are very much professional, resourceful, helpful and approachable. All professors are registered medical practitioners. The lecture theatres have black boards as well as projectors. The problem solving abilities of the professors is awesome. The teacher to student ratio is approximately 8:125 which is quite comfortable. Regular group discussions are also conducted to make learning process interactive. Students are also assigned projects.
 

Placement Rating
No placements are provided after completion of the course. College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani provides temporary house staff-ship to 70 students on merit basis for a period of 6 months after being convocated.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostel facilities are provided by College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani for boys and girls students. Twin sharing rooms are allotted to 1st and 2nd year students and single rooms for the seniors, interns, house staff and other doctors. Mess food is quite good. Hygiene is a concern. Mess fee depends on what you are eating. No restrictions are there in the hostel premises.
 

Infrastructure Rating
The college, hostel and the hospital have separate areas which are separate. The hospital is situated in between the college and the hostel. Campus size is huge. Our auditorium is one of the largest amongst all medical colleges. Both outdoor and indoor sports facilities are also available in the campus. Infrastructure is fine but needs significant improvement in some areas. My favorite thing about the college is its huge campus and the structure of our academic building.
 

Campus Rating
Overall campus Life is fine. It's a happening place. Something or the other keeps on happening in the campus. We also have nursing and paramedical College in the same campus. Our college’s teams participate in various inter college events organised throughout the year. The annual college fest 'Kaizma' is celebrated with enthusiasm and zeal in the month of September every year. Various intra and inter college events are organised around the college fest dates.

    College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani is a Nice place for academics, skill development and sports. Lots of cases for clinical exposure. I chose this college based on its proximity to Kolkata and the hostel rooms which are quite spacious and newly made. This place has a large campus area with library, labs, etc. Food is cheap and tasty. There’s no hustle and bustle of the city. The place is close to Mayapur which is loved by students....     Overall Rating
    There are so many cafes and restaurants available nearby the campus. The OPD classes closes at 2-3 pm. The night life is average here for that you will have to travel to Kolkata. There are two cinema halls also. College is associated with hospital with a good patient flow which makes easy for everyone to learn clinical skills.
