The Curriculum of College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani Nadia is NMC Approved

There are so many cafes and restaurants available nearby the campus. The OPD classes closes at 2-3 pm. The night life is average here for that you will have to travel to Kolkata. There are two cinema halls also. College is associated with hospital with a good patient flow which makes easy for everyone to learn clinical skills. It’s a great place being in a Government Medical College. Great place communication wise. The hospital is packed day and night with patients so learning could be a bit difficult and exhaustive.

The curriculum is NMC Approved and inclined on the theory part with clinical exposure beginning during final year and internship. Exams are adequate and do help in retention of knowledge. Rest everything depends on the students of what they want to make of themselves. Exams include both theory and practicals. Supplementary exams for when you fail. First year has three semesters, second year has three semesters, third year has two semesters, and final year has two semesters. First year has three subjects, second year has three subjects, third year has two subjects, and final year has six subjects. There's no good and bad department in our course, all have equal weightage. Passing them is all is mandatory, no electives. Internship is hectic but very educational. Everything goes according to the NMC syllabus. Semesters are subject to the College's timetable. Exams are held standard after the RG Kar fiasco.

Fee structure per year is Rs. 4,500/- for 3 semesters. Hostel Rs.5, 100/- annually. College caution fees are Rs. 3,000/- which is refundable. A number of state sponsored scholarships present for state quota students based on their merit and economic background. Registration cost for each subject for the final exams is Rs.600/- each.

Faculties of College of Medicine & JNM Hospital Kalyani are the best in class (they’re practicing Physicians and Surgeons and professors). There are personal WhatsApp groups of every subject where students can interact with the faculty members and ask their questions.

Internship here means doing a mandatory one year service at the College hospital in the various departments. Payment is Rs.28, 000/- per month approximately. Based on academic distinctions you could be offered a year of house staff ship. No recruiters here. NEET PG and then post graduation is the way to go.

Study table, chair, closet, bed, mattress are provided by the hostel. Rs.2000/- is the hostel fees which is refundable. Rs.100/- per month fee. Two people per room for the first and second years. Then a single room per person until internship. Menu is decided by the canteen. The Hostel food is recommended in the long run. Food is hygienic, cheap and tasty in the hostel canteens. Girls are not allowed after 11 pm and there are no such restrictions for boys.

College location and academics are best, learning skills are comprehensive and clinical based. The campus has library, labs, classrooms with projectors and lecture rooms and the library closes at 8 pm. There are also Dominoes, KFC, Karim's, Baskin Robbins, and Natural's ice cream.

Education wise, this place has it all but in other things the College is average. I hope in future the College organise fest and events for the students and also extracurricular activities for students personal development. There are no cab services we have to take e- rickshaws only.
