Rajagiri College's MSW Program: Admissions, Fees, and More

I chose to join Rajagiri College of Social Science because it is the second-best social work college in India and the best in the state. The positive points of Rajagiri College of Social Science are the faculty itself, who are highly educated and have vast experience. The college has live labs for social work, which help gain practical knowledge of the field and not just theoretical knowledge. The college has a strong research interest, and people who are interested in research can surely approach the college. The events, fests, and conferences are of high standards. College offers a wide range of amenities and has one of the best libraries, spread over 17000 sq ft, and has the best collection of social work-related journals and articles.

The course I have chosen is Master of Social Work (MSW) for my post-graduation. I have a strong sense of helping the helpless and want to do something for the community, which guided me to choose the course. Entry is purely based on a merit basis. There are 3 rounds of admission starting with a group discussion, aptitude test, and personal interview. 60% marks from any discipline of your undergraduation is enough to be eligible foe the course. The exams are conducted semester-wise, and there are two internal exams every semester along with fieldwork and a viva for the same every semester. The academics also equip you with practical knowledge along with field work and block placement which makes you ready for real life experiences.

The year-wise fee is Rs. 30,000, a total of Rs. 60,000 for 2 years. There are concessions for students in fees from various categories of students. Ample amount of scholarship options also available for the students at Rajagiri College of Social Science.

Every faculty member in my department has an experience in teaching for a minimum of 15 years, and all of the faculty members and doctorate holders are UGC NET qualified. The faculty comes from a multidisciplinary background with an ample amount of experience and educational background. Teachers at Rajagiri College of Social Science use various teaching methods, mostly hybrid ways of teaching with a lot of interaction in classrooms and not just one-way communication methods. The faculties are very friendly and approachable and are always ready to offer support and guidance to the students.

There is a placement cell dedicated to taking care of all the placement-related activities. They conduct various workshops and sessions to equip the students with additional skills and make them equipped to be industry-ready. There was LinkedIn training, resume and CV training, interview and group discussion training, as well as a number of skill development training. Companies like L&T, HCL Foundation, Tata Steel Foundation, and NGOs like Bhoomi Foundation, Butterflies, and Pradhan visit the campus for recruitment. The average package is 3 LPA and the highest is 14 LPA.

The college offers hostel facilities for both boys and girls. The hostels come equipped with all the facilities and offer gym, sports, and Wi-Fi access. Boys and girls hostels are in separate places; the quality of mess food is very good, and non-veg are offered almost all days of the week. The annual fee for the hostel is Rs. 70,000. The hostel has a curfew of 10 PM for boys and 7 PM for girls.

There are separate blocks for UG and PG. There are multiple air-conditioned computer labs. The library is spread over 4 floors and has a capacity to house 300 students at a time and is spread over 17000 sq ft. The locality of the campus is well accessible to all modes of transportation. Classrooms are all smart classes with the capacity to hold over 50 students at once. There are various courses with offers and classrooms. There are 3 canteens at present in the campus, and 2 ground and 2 basketball courts and various courts for badminton and volleyball.

I am very satisfied with the campus life at Rajagiri College of Social Science and the facilities that the college has to offer. There are various clubs like sports, music, dance, library, and arts clubs. The college crowd is pretty decent. There are various extracurricular activities like the annual sports meet, talent show, ethnic day, etc. There are various fests and events around the year on the campus. There are major leagues of sports and international conferences held in the campus.
