My Personal Opinion on SBMCH Chennai

Overall Rating
The college is located at a good and well-connected area. Infrastructure of SBMCH Chennai is above average here. Academics are very good here. Campus is maintained well. Sports facilities are also good. Faculties are very helpful and experienced. The student will get good clinical exposure here.
 

Academics Rating
Eligibility criterion to get admission in this college and course is to write NEET. The seat is allotted on the merit basis. After selection, the students have to report to the college within a given date. There are total 250 seats. There is a gap of at least 1 month between 2 internals and in between formative assessments. The academics in MBBS particularly, prepare you well for real life challenge. The student will get both theoretical and clinical exposure.
For academics, year wise fee of the college is 25.50 Lakh.
 

Faculty Rating
Most of the faculties are doctors. They are very experienced. Faculties are very helpful. Method of their teaching includes PPTs and group discussions. Faculties are easily approachable if students have any problem or doubt. Teacher to student ratio will be around 1:50. They can be approached after the classes also. Their experience provides us a good clinical exposure. They sometimes keep extra doubt sessions for the students. The support staffs are also very helpful.
 

Hostel Rating
Hostels of SBMCH Chennai are above average. They provide decent facilities in the hostel. Hostel fee is 3 Lakh (including mess fee) for AC room and Rs. 75,000 for non-AC room. Mess food is average.
 

Infrastructure Rating
Campus includes hospital and academic block. The infrastructure is bit old. Renovation work is going on as of now. Railway station and airport are nearby to the college. Seating capacity of the classrooms is above 250. Classrooms have centralized AC, 2 big screens (one on each side), etc. Library is also having centralized AC. Auditorium and conference halls are decent but they are being renovated now. Sports facilities are also decent enough. The gym is also operational now.
 

Campus Rating
Campus life is average. There is no fest or cultural programs in the campus. College crowd is decent enough. Festivals like Pongal and others are celebrated here. Extracurricular activities in the campus are relatively lesser. Now, the management is working on creating the sports teams now. Sports events are organized rarely. One annual fest ‘Yukti’ is organized for 2 days.

    This is a good college for one who wants to study with great faculty who are great at their job. They are excellent educators. But it Lacks in some aspects like no campus life, Poor sports facility and extracurricular activities. Factors that are good - it has great Connectivity to the city center.
