Mastering Computer Science at IIT Bombay

It is my first year in IIT Bombay, and I felt too good to be part of this institute. You can learn whatever you want to as everything is available here. The seniors are very supportive here. We just need to ask everyone here is to help each other. Many competitions happen regularly and you can participate in whatever field you are interested even if you do not know anything about it. They will assign us with some mentors who will help us.

My department is Computer Science. Basically, I am interested in coding and so I preferred it. Initially I faced a lot of struggles but later with the help of some seniors, I made sure to improve. You need to work hard to come into this institute. It is hard but it is not something you cannot do. Here usually we will have some quizzes, mid-sem, and end sem exams. It is the best institute in my opinion.

The fee of the course mainly depends on your category. Students can also apply for scholarships or get financial aids if they belong to economically weaker sections of the society.

Here the faculty members are so friendly. They also help us to understand the concepts better. Majority of the teachers are experienced and knowledgeable in their respective subjects. They mainly focus on how we understand the subject. They will use PPTs to teach the subject. Every week the professors assist some seniors who will help us to understand the concepts in a better way. We can even mail the professors if we are facing some issues in that course. Then we can have one on one discussion with the professor. After completion of the teaching session, professors provide the reference material and slides which is mostly sufficient to get good grades.

I actually do not know much about the placements of IIT Bombay. But what I know is compared to other institutes, it is much better. That many of the students will be placed with good packages.

Yes, the institute has hostels. For the first 3 years, students are allotted with double sharing rooms. In final year, each student is allocated with single room.

The most beautiful part here is that campus is full of greenery. The classroom’s capacity is maximum of 350 people with ACs. We even have common library, reading halls, and department libraries. The sports complex here is very nice. There is also a hospital inside the campus. Inside the campus, it looks like a small town where everything is available.

My campus life until now is really very good. I always am proud of my decision of choosing this institute. I learned many things here. There are many clubs available here and you can fulfill your childhood dreams by joining them. This institute always motivates students participate in extracurricular activities. It will also conduct some fun games in some weekends. There is this fest ‘Mood Indigo’ that is known as Asia’s biggest fest is celebrated grandly here. It usually conducts the sports tournaments regularly to motivate the students.
