Academic Excellence and Placements at IIM Ranchi

My MBA Journey at Indian Institute of Management, RanchiMy first year in Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi is about to end nearly and it has been a great and wholesome experience for me this entire year. The academics is sincere along with the day-to-day ECA activities that we go through, be it leadership talks, summer placements or the Annual fest of RUSH it was all a complete package for a student. There are a few issues I would say, the rigorous and hectic MBA life is one of them but this institute has surely seen that it does not cross a certain threshold. The transport and other out-of-campus facilities are a bit questionable but that has improved because recently a supermarket was opened so now it easier for us to gain essentials and stationary items. The institute is performing well in all things and has gained an upper advantage from other institutes. I chose this institute because of the rankings and my own CAT percentile criterion. I got selected in this institute at 94.73 percentile and overall 9 grade point for the profile had an interview. Apart from that at this percentile I had applied for the institute and had offer letters from both MBA-core MBA-HR I chose MBA Core. This institute has the biggest advantage of being an IIM, apart from that in this tier institutes it has been performing well for the past few years in terms of placements thus it was my reason to select this institute.

Academics are well set, regular classes from the best faculties are something common. Although there are a few courses that might become troublesome for people who do not regularly keep up with the studies but rest assured Academics won’t leave you anytime for yourself combined with the placement activities. Regular quizzes, class discussion, case studies, mid terms and end terms apart from that CP marks are well distributed. The Grade drops are a scene if you do not attend a given number of lectures and they might lead to your academic downfall.

Fee structure at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi is much sorted to be honest; the fee payment system is direct. There is an acceptance fee of Rs. 1, 10,000 yearly and then apart from that Rs. 2, 85,000 of semester fees for 6 semesters, adding the mess charges and caution money and everything bring the overall fees to around Rs. 18, 50,000. Mess charges are roughly Rs. 10,000 a month and are collected at once along with the semester fees which make total semester fee to be around Rs. 3, 15,000. Scholarships are also available at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi. We have dedicated office and staff for the scholarships is also ready to help you with anything regarding that. In campus scholarships are also present and you can also avail a lot of Government scholarships and CSR funds.

Faculty is something that any institute can always improve upon as far as I see it. The faculty is great specifically for subjects like finance and operations, accounting also has great faculty. New faculties keep joining us time to time so a mix of opinions is always found. Apart from that regular guest lecture sessions with top corporate executives is always there. We also have collaboration from foreign universities so a lot of foreign subject experts also visit us for specific semesters to teach. The faculty is also very helpful.

Placements at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi have jumped a lot in the past few years. Average packages are going till 18.5 lakh and the highest package bagged by the batch 23-25 was 50.3 Lakh, yes you heard it right. No mistake it’ll even be out in the next year’s placement reports. The median was around 19-20 lakh. The SIP is also great and the placement does a tremendous amount of work. The entire batch was placed by February end.

Great hostel infrastructure, spacious rooms, attached washrooms for the first years then in the main hostel that is usually kept for the second years we get single occupancy rooms and common washrooms in each wing. First years are kept in faculty housing buildings near the community center. The mess is also great breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner always on time and spacious well lit mess. The food is awesome as expected from the Sodexo who manages the mess. All varieties of food available here. Good mess menu and also special occasions serves special food and there is even separate jain food and food for people who are fasting on festivals.

The newly built campus has it all, although it is a smaller campus as compared to other older IIM and even some new ones but you won’t feel suffocated in this campus at all. There are small tapri just outside the gate of the campus and inside we have a bank, A super mart, Nescafe, a flavors cafe, and a dedicated restaurant for us. The campus is slightly in the outskirts but has buses running to the nearest markets. Academic building, hostels everything is great. The campus also has cycles that anyone can take to travel along the campus roads.

Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi has an amazing institute life, always some or the other thing to keep up our spirits. Academics and all the things are hectic but people take out time to enjoy and party amongst that too, you won’t feel bored any day in this campus, ECA activities, Fests Soul carnivals, RUSH and regular movie screenings and match screenings are also done. The city might feel a bit off for people who are coming to Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi from Delhi or Mumbai like places but, the city also has a lot to explore so never try to miss any weekends from going out. Overall, I enjoyed a lot at Indian Institute of Management, Ranchi.
