B.Tech in Applied Electronics at CET Trivandrum

College of Engineering, Trivandrum (CET) is one of the best colleges in the state for pursuing Engineering. My decision to choose this college comes from the legacy that CET boasts and the quality that College of Engineering, Trivandrum’s alumni have portrayed. The college has good facilities like college and department libraries, labs, seminar halls, etc. One of the advantages of being a student here is that the college brings in the most placements compared to other colleges under the university.

The course I have chosen is B.Tech in Applied Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering. I chose the course because of my interest in the domain and this course is only offered by a few colleges under KTU. The entrance test is KEAM and you are ranked based on your KEAM score. According to your ranking, you will be allotted your college and course. There are two series exams that determine your internal score and the end semester examination.

You will have to submit the course fee at College of Engineering, Trivandrum at the time of admission. You're also supposed to pay university examination fee to the university every semester to write the end semester exams.

The faculty of College of Engineering, Trivandrum is knowledgeable and well established in their respective domains but not very approachable for help. The method of teaching uses blackboards and PowerPoint presentations. Depending on the subject, there could be group discussions as well. Although they are knowledgeable, but you have to be self reliant to keep up with the curriculum. The teacher student ratio is quite less.

The campus is vast with various departments having their own separate buildings. The main block consists of the offices and principal's room and the mechanical department. The classrooms can accommodate about 70 students at a time. There is a college Library available and additionally department libraries are also available in College of Engineering, Trivandrum. There are department seminar halls and a large auditorium for Events. There is a basketball court, football ground, and a college canteen present within the campus.

Overall, the campus life is very lively, with the campus being active throughout the day. There are many clubs that you could sign up for and tale a part in and the activities of said clubs extend beyond college hours. There are always people on campus. There are 2 fests - Dhwani and Dhristi, the cultural and technical fests respectively that are conducted in the even semester. I've had a positive experience with the campus life at College of Engineering, Trivandrum.
