BESC Kolkata: B.Com (Hons.), Convenient Timings and Strong Academics

I am a student at Bhawanipur Education Society College, Kolkata. I am in 2nd semester. My 1st year experience is amazing. It is not just a college, it's like a mini town with many facilities and services. The main reason I chose this institute was because of the course timings. My morning shift starts at 6 AM and ends at 10 AM.

I applied for B.Com (Hons.) course in both evening and morning shift since I was unsure of my acceptance. But I got selected in both shifts and I enrolled myself in Morning batch because of the convenient timings. The eligibility criteria is pretty easy. Student only need to be passed in 12th standard with a decent percentage. But I cleared it easily because I got 94% in ISC. The admission process was fully online, filled an online application, and upload the marksheets. Then, you have to wait for the selection lists and then pay the admission fee and other charges and got the ID card and other documents. The exams in B.Com course is once every 6 months. Basically, there are 8 semesters spanned over 4 years and there is a semester end exam after every 6 months.

The fees for morning batch is Rs. 44,900 every semester. This means approximately Rs. 3,60,000 for the entire course. Everything is included in this, the tuition fee, admission, registrations, and other charges. The fees for evening batch is less (Rs. 39,900 per semester). There is a scholarship discount for people who scored above 90% in class 12th. I don't have much info on that. There is also special discounts for OBCs and other categories, I am not sure how much, but there is some discount.

The faculty is equally amazing. All the teachers are well experienced. Most of them are renowned professors. They teach using blackboard, presentations, etc. The faculty members are really helpful. Their methods of teaching are very good for students to understand. you come up to them with doubt, they are always ready to clear it for you with the same spirit. They are willing to help us in every way possible.

I am currently in 2nd semester so I don't have much idea about the placements. from what I have heard from my seniors and professors, many students got placement with good package. there are many placement drives in the college. Few days ago some companies were here and recruited many people.

There is no separate hostel facilities provided by the college. I am a resident of Kolkata. Some of my batch mates who are from outstation are staying in PGs mostly. There are many PGs around the college, I am unaware of the prices though since it's not official.

The infrastructure of BESC Kolkata is also good. Campus is huge, I mean really huge. There is a turf, sports arena, huge Library, canteen, labs, and what not. All the classrooms are air conditioned. Seating capacity of each classroom is around 80. There is AV and blackboard available in the classrooms. There are 3 halls, they are big halls and a 4th hall is under construction. There is fully air conditioned halls which are equipped with speakers all around. The stage is well set. The library is very big with over 68k books and 350k e-books. Books can be borrowed for a month and re-issued as well. The canteen is also good. There is a sports arena where we play chess, darts, pool, table tennis, etc. there is a pool table as well. Yeah sports arena is also air conditioned. There is outdoor turf, where we play basketball mostly. There is a medical room (infirmary) too. I don't know much about it since I never been there. Security is top notch. My favorite place is the lobby the. From the lobby, I enjoy watching the entire campus hustle and bustle, the spirit, and enthusiasm in everyone.

My campus life of BESC Kolkata has been amazing. There are many clubs, for economics, dance, stock market, music, arts, finance, and what not. I am a part of stock market club (called Bulls Eye), fitness club (called Power Hour), music club (called Crescendo), skills sharing club (called Student Sharing Skills), and the social activity club. There are frequent activities and events in every club. There is an annual fest called Umang, which is a weeklong fest. Many colleges around Kolkata also participate in this event. In the last day of the fest, there is a concert, where many famous celebrities show up & perform. This time Kailash Kher and his band performed. I was lucky to attend the live concert. Overall campus life is amazing. There are many activities and courses every day to Enhance skills.
