Sports Facilities & Extracurricular Activities at Presidency University, Bangalore

I had both positive and negative experiences in Presidency University, Bangalore. Positive because, my lecturers are good and few of my friends are supportive. My University is beautiful with full of trees, plants, and a fountain surrounded by flowers. We have club activities which make students feel engaged. Only issue is that the University is overcrowded and buildings are under construction from the day 1.

The course I chose is Computer Science and Technology with specialization in AIML. To join any course there is no eligibility criteria but there will be difference in fee; if you have good ranking in KCET, your fees will be less as compared to those who join the course without any exam. Admission process is simple, you just have to submit your grade 10th and 12th mark sheets and pay admission fee for your course. There are 2 main exams in each semester, one is mid-term and another is end term. Apart from these, there will be some weekly tests and quiz conducted in each course. Academics will prepare you for the real world by giving you projects and guidance.

The fee of my chosen course is Rs. 1,45,000 per year. It gave us Rs. 10,000 concession for 2 years, if we paid the whole year fee (both the semester fee) at a stretch.

Coming to faculty, there are at least 2 lecturers for each subject and all those lecturers are from good background. Some of them have completed their Masters while some are doing their PhDs and have high knowledge. They teach well by giving examples, seminars, using PPTs, and also their self made notes. They have good problem solving skills especially few of them are great in it. The student teacher ratio is 1:60. My bonding with few lecturers is good, they were supportive and have also helped me a lot.

In this University placements are not so good. We don't get much technical companies; instead we get more sales companies. In technical companies, if 100 people write the exam, one or two will get the job. Minimum package for technical companies is of 3 LPA. So, I think placements should be improved.

Hostel is very luxurious and the fee is around Rs. 1,50,000 per year in 2021 and now it has been increased. Hostel is nearby the University. Mess food and snacks were average taste wise. But the breakfast is good. They give variety in breakfast menu. Rules are like; we can’t go out in the evening after 7 PM. By that time everyone should be in the hostel.

There are many blocks and all are separated for different types of schools like School of Engineering, School of Law, School of Commerce, and separate building for MBA students. Classrooms are good but the ceilings looks like they are under construction. Library is good and clean. Some of the buildings were under construction from past 4 years. There are many canteens and cafes. Some have tasty food while others are unhygienic and serves average food. There are sports facilities such as Football, Cricket, and Volleyball. There are few indoor games as well. There are University buses but are very expensive. My favorite place in Presidency University, Bangalore is the fountain and the lawn, which are peaceful.

My overall campus life at Presidency University, Bangalore is good; I learnt many things and experienced good and bad moments. The University is overcrowded. There are many clubs such as arts, culinary, dance, music, sports, etc. I am a part of arts club. There are some online games tournaments such as for BGMI, free fire, etc. In my 4 years of college life; I have attended 3 fests, in which few actors and singers were invited, who entertained us. Various festivals are also celebrated in the campus. My overall college life is a memorable one and still continuing to be one.
