NLIU Bhopal's Fee Structure & Scholarships

In the last two years, I have had a great experience at NLIU Bhopal. The competitive yet supportive environment here provides a perfect balance for a law student to study and to pursue their interests. Be it in curricular, extra-curricular or co-curricular activities. The institute hosts many prestigious competitions that bring the best minds of the legal world, including Supreme Court and High Court Judges, partners of tier 1 Law firms, and partners from leading international firms, who come here to share their insights through lectures. Furthermore, the super active Student Bar Association, keeps making efforts to improve the institute and look after students' needs.

We have a two-semester system for a year, each semester having mid-term and end-term examinations, viva voce, and project submission for each subject. Until 2023-24, we had five subjects each year; from 2024-25, new batches have 6 subjects in every semester. We have our classes from 9 AM to 1.30 PM and on Saturdays, until 4 PM. 2nd and 4th Saturdays are non-working days, so no classes. Managing academics is not a hectic job here; however, if a student gets involved in several competitions and co-curricular activities, then it is quite challenging.

We have a total fee of Rs. 2,80,000 for the 1st year and Rs. 2,70,000 from the 2nd year, which increases by Rs. 5,000 every year and is supposed to be paid in 2 instalments. We do have a Merit Cup, which means scholarships will be provided for around 4 students in every batch, based on their CLAT rank for the 1st year. For 2nd to 5th years, scholarships will be given based on batch rank in the preceding year. We have a 50% domicile reservation for residents of Madhya Pradesh, so lots of eligible student also get the benefit of the Medhavi Scholarship.

Most of the faculties here are brilliant and have long teaching experience. Faculties are supportive here; if we approach them for any help, like guidance for research papers, etc. they help us effectively. For the Cyber Security course, we have faculty who have had experience at premier institutions like IIT Roorkee and BITS Pilani. Faculties do also help students in their Moot Court competitions and mock rounds. All the faculties always take time out to guide students whenever we approach them for any sort of help.

The Placement Coordination Committee (PCC) of the NLIU facilitates all work related to placements and internships. The PCC is managed by students only and headed by a faculty-in-charge. NLIU Bhopal has had a good placement record for every year for the last 25 years since its establishment. Many of our alumni are now equity partners and senior partners at every tier 1 and tier 2 law firm, including head of legal departments for several in-house companies, which really helps the current batches in their placements. We do have one of the best alumni networks in India.

Hostel services are provided here.

The infrastructure of the NLIU Bhopal is up to the mark. We do have well-maintained and air-conditioned classes. All the buildings here are fully air-conditioned except the hostels. The library of this institute is its pride; it is a glass-designed library, which looks extremely beautiful and has a functional centralised AC. It is a three-floor, spacious building. From inside the library we can see the greenery outside the library. Library hours are 10 AM to 12 AM. And during exam time, it’s open on festivals as well. We also do have a well-maintained sports complex including a gym.

Overall, the campus life is enjoyable. Students can do many activities here, play games, and even roam around the campus with friends. The atmosphere of Bhopal is also good, and the institute is located near a forest area, so the environment here is awesome. We have lots of cells and centers, so the entire year is extremely engaging for the students. We host more than 20 events every year, including inter-university sports fest ‘Virudhaka’ and intra-university sports competitions too. The Cultural fest’s name is ‘Palchin’ and many more such events happen here.
