Admissions at NLIU Bhopal: CLAT, Fees, and Scholarships

I have had an amazing time at the institute so far. I think I got everything I wanted from college. The people here are so friendly and welcoming. Everyone from all over the country, with different languages and ideas, gets along great. You will feel like you are in your own home, and everyone is a family. It really encourages everyone to interact. It is a really comfortable and friendly environment for students who are far from home. It has an amazing alumni base that is always ready to help their juniors. Even the first batch of alumni is there to support the new students. Honestly, It was one of my top choices when I was preparing for CLAT. Trust me; it has lived up to my expectation. The institute will not only teach you bookish knowledge but it will prepare you for real cruel world (for lawyers). It is a student run university and if you are a student then this is the perfect place for you.

I would rate academics 4.5/5. Hence, academics are doing great. Hey, offer two undergraduate courses, BA.LL.B & B.Sc.LL.B, and two postgraduate courses, LLM and MCLIS. These courses open up a ton of opportunities for students interested in technology or upcoming AI, which could be the future of our legal field. All courses are admitted through the CLAT exam, which is run by the CLAT consortium. Except for MCLIS as it, has its own entrance exam? Two courses that have introduced new subjects for students. Trust me; these subjects will be super helpful in their careers, giving them more opportunities than just BA students do. It can also work for technology or AI law firms. Students can easily manage their studies with other things. The institute also has student exchange program with the University of Lucerne, so students who want to study abroad can do that too. Every semester we have a clinical course subject such Moot court, Drafting Pleading, Arbitration etc. to prepare us for the real life ahead.

The university's fee structure is quite reasonable, with fee being minimal compared to other institutions. The annual fee is less than 3 Lakh, which is quite affordable. The SBA (Student Body Association) fee is over Rs. 4,000 per year, which seems excessive considering the student body's contributions. The SBA has already raised sufficient funds to sponsor various educational initiatives, so this could be reduced. University also gives scholarship to the students who are not financially capable to pay this much fees, eligibility being, and the student must be "meritorious.”

The faculty at NLIU Bhopal is amazing. The professors are super friendly, engaging, and have their own unique teaching styles. They are always trying to get everyone involves in the class discussions, using different teaching methods like presentations, boards, and group work to make studying fun and interesting. If you are not feeling comfortable asking questions during class, you can easily reach out to the professors after class to clear any doubts. They are always there to help. Many of the professors live in the campus, so it is easy to get to them. Some of the professors have been with the university since its inception, while others are alumni who joined recently. In addition to their academic expertise, the faculty members are also very friendly and supportive of the student community. They are always there to help in any situation and take us for treats!

I won't go into too much detail about placements since it’s pretty clear that placements are excellent here. As one of the first NLUs, our alumni have spread across the legal field and even taken top positions at various organizations. Many partners at Tier 1 firms like, CAM, SAM, and Trilegal & others. Every year, there are around 15 PPO offers for our college, which may not seem like a lot, but when you add rolling offers and zero-day offers. It comes out to around 60 in a batch of 120. So, do not worry about placements when you are here. Just focus on your academics and you will at good working place after 5 years. Almost gets 100% students get placement every year, so every course is safe here in terms of placement.

The college used to offer hostel rooms on campus to all students until last year. The number of students has increased a lot and the new hostels were not ready. Some students were given rooms outside the campus in a university hostel. The hostel buildings have been built, so there will not be any room shortages this academic year, which is 2025-26. Now, the hostel facilities are perfect with six hostels at the campus itself. Everyone should be there by 12 AM. No one is allowed to stay outside hostel after 12 PM. The mess food is pretty good with four meals a day, good hygiene, taste, and service; everything here at the mess is working well, and it also give two special dinners a month and some special feast on festivals. The mess fees we pay give us more than enough food in return.

Infrastructure at NLIU is impressive, I would rate it 4 out 5. We have the biggest library amongst all the NLUs, and it is a real attraction for everyone. The library is located right in the heart of campus, and it is beautifully designed. The classrooms and academic blocks are well maintained & there is always enough seating for everyone. Each classroom has projectors, boars, and air conditioning, so you can stay comfortable during lectures. We also have two much larger capacities of over 700 (Convention Center). There are also two seminar halls, which can accommodate up to 2 to 3 classes. When it comes to food, we have a canteen that offers a wide variety of options at reasonable prices. We also have Amul, Nescafe, and a juice shop on campus. To get outside campus, we have a bus service that runs from the university to the mall and market in Bhopal city. The bus service is available three days a week. One thing that could be improved is the lack of sports ground. We do not have a well-maintained sports complex that offers a variety of facilities for different sports, but we do not have a cricket or football ground. Therefore, we usually have to play Futsal or box cricket instead. We have a basic medical center that can provide basic medication and in case of any emergency, there is always an ambulance available. Overall, the institute has a great infrastructure, and I am happy with the facilities we have.

Campus life is fantastic. The college crowd is incredibly diverse, and everyone feels comfortable and connected. People from all occupations come together, and it is amazing how easily it can make friends who share similar interests. Sure, there might be some challenges in socializing, but here at campus, it is easy to find people who vibe with you. The seniors are incredibly welcoming and supportive. The overall atmosphere is rally welcoming and friendly. There are plenty of clubs that offer a refreshing break from the academic grind; activities like jamming sessions that create a cozy and friendly vibe are part of the club activities. You will often see students hanging out with their friends on campus at night. Our college also organized a variety of cultural events, like traditional Garba Nights and Halloween parties. However, my favorite party is definitely the HOLI party, which is the best celebration here. One thing I can tell you for sure that at the end of NLIU's college life, you might regret your academics or placement, but you will never regret your campus life. You will have the best college and hostel life here.
