Shoolini University Solan: Fees, Concessions, and More

I am currently pursuing B.Tech Biotechnology at Shoolini University and I am in my last year of Undergraduate Degree. If I could sum up my overall experience here in one word, it would be peaceful. I always wanted to study and live by nature. Hills and streams surround the location of my university, which allowed me to experience my university life in a different yet fun way. I studied, gave exams, got placed, participated in many clubs, fests, and other interesting activities with friends that were basically like a family away from home. Overall, my experience was really up to the mark as they promised.

I chose this course as I had a deep interest in Biology and Technology from the start and was confused in between IT and core biology department. So, Biotechnology was a medium for me to study and get educated about both. The requirements and eligibility criteria was to be passed in class 12th with a minimum of 60% marks. You must also have studied Physics, Chemistry, and either Biology or Biotechnology as core subjects. The admission process was simple, it was based on JEE Main, CUET UG, SAT, or Shoolini University's own exam score. We had two unit tests with one practical exam and final exam at the end. Class tests were also taken for internal marks. I'll graduate in a month now and I'm confident to work in real life with given challenges.

The total fee for the 4-year program is around 10-12 Lakh. I've paid Rs. 86,034 each semester. Special concessions are provided for defense personnels and other students with high scores in their exams.

All of my faculties were associate, assistant professor, PhD or PostDoc holders with years of experience. Their method of teaching involved whiteboards, presentations, videos, reports, scientific research papers, group discussion and other activities. Our biotech department had one of the best faculties of university having both theoretical and practical knowledge with wit in their teaching methods. They were able to solve our queries. Ratio was around 23:1. My teachers were really approachable and we shared a good bond all these years and can maintain that even after my degree.

The placement cell was really supportive in my university, I got placed in the end of 7th semester only. They helped me throughout my journey. They selectively bring many companies even after my placement I was updated that students were given a chance in core and even noncore fields. Sprint was conducted in our undergraduate degree throughout as a part of curriculum shaping is for the placement. Many companies like Lifecell, Panacea Biotech, Biocon, etc. have come in my university. Average package is around 5 LPA- 10 LPA. Highest was around 12 LPA. My placement experience was really smooth and they helped me throughout the processes.

My university was tied up with GHS. There were around 1782 beds in each building. Girls and boys have separate rooms although building is same. They had restrictions and guards for security. Mess food was surprisingly good and hygienic provided 4 times. Non-veg foods are also available at cheap rates. They provide free Wi-Fi, Hangout Zones, common rooms, study areas, common areas with TV rooms, Table Tennis, Chess, and Carrom Boards. We had a 200-seater Cineplex, caretakers for routine care and emergencies available 24/7. A Medical Centre with support services like ambulance, a unisex salon, vending machines for snacks and refreshments, and laundry services are also provided. My fee was around 50,000 for 4 seaters, per semester. It varies depending on occupancy.

The campus had many buildings including gym complex, stadiums, halls, academic blocks, library, student activity center and the hostel blocks. Campus size is around 20 acres in Solan district of Himachal Pradesh. Canteens, Nescafe, food stalls, shops, medical building, security guards these essential facilities were provided for all the students. My favorite part of was a temple situated in our campus only. The infrastructure had much information regarding the legends that live in each department. Each block was named after a scientist.

My overall campus life was wonderful. In few words, I can sum up - fun, informative, eye opening, unforgettable experience with lots of hiking in between classes. University crowd was average, not too big not too small. There were many clubs with varied departments, some having supervisors. I was part of NSS, Quiz Club, Red Taboos Club and few sports ones. Engagement happened around campus on various extracurricular functions like dancing, having a dj night or based on the festival like Holi, sports competition and other educational fests. My experience was wonderful and I would like to recommend everyone to live that.
