Ahmedabad University's Admission Process for BBA (Hons.)

My overall experience at Ahmedabad University has been really good. So far, I really have had fun. This university gives you many golden opportunities to explore and develop your skills. There are many co-curricular activities in the university. There are 20+ clubs present in the university. Despite offers from other universities, I chose to study in Ahmedabad University because of the culture and Liberal Studies pattern. I also wanted to do Liberal Studies, because here I can get to study different subjects from different domain and then select my major. This will help me understand that in which field my interest lies and secondly due to Liberal Studies you will get to information about other subjects. Thus, I chose Ahmedabad University over other because of the culture and study pattern.

As I mentioned earlier I am pursuing Liberal Studies, so every semester we need to study 5-6 subjects and it is compulsory. For example being a BBA Student yet I have to study Biology, Psychology, History, Math, Data Science and Law. Till 5th semester, you will study all 32 subjects compulsorily and then from the 6th semester onwards you will study subjects of your major and minor. So you are not given option whether you need to choose certain subjects or not. The option of choosing will be availed once you complete all your 32 subjects. Then you can select subject of your choice considering your major and minor subjects. I chose to pursue BBA because I was interested in the field of management and I want to peruse my career in that line. The eligibility criteria at the university are minimum 75% in 12th and a good statement of purpose. Therefore, for the admission process you need to submit a Google form and write a statement of purpose and then if the university likes your application, you will be called for an interview round. Then if you clear the interview, you will be offered a seat in the university. In statement of purpose certain topics will be given, out of which on 1-2 topics you need to write an essay on and submit. Per semester, there are 2 exams. So in the whole year we have exams 4 times. The academics prepare you really well for real life challenges as you are taught many real life scenarios.

The fees of my course are Rs. 4,50,000 for year. It includes tuition fees and resources. Apart from that, the registration fee is Rs. 250. Scholarships and financial aid are available for students depending on their need. For this, they need to submit their income tax return and then their interview will be taken. Apart from that, merit based scholarship is also available if you have a good performance.

Here at Ahmedabad University, all the faculties are really very good. They all have done their PhDs from renowned universities like IIM, Harward University, Oxford University and have years of experience in teaching field. I really like the method of teaching. Here mostly through PPTs and group discussion topics are taught. The problem solving ability of our professors is really good and they solve all your queries with full detail and attention and make sure that you understand the concept well. The teacher student ratio is 70 students to 1 teacher along with 1 teaching associate who helps in managing the class and assignments. I have an amazing bonding with the faculty members. They all are very supportive and approachable. Not only they guide you for your career but if need, they also help you in your personal life.

Placement cell is available at Ahmedabad University. I do not have much idea about the placements, as I have not visited yet.

The university offers residential facilities. Currently it has hostel affiliated with Feel Like Home (FLH). So total there are 4 hostels of 7 stories each. There are 3 options which includes single sharing, double sharing and triple sharing. Each floor has approx 15 rooms. There are recreational activities for hostellers like gym and indoor sports. Girls and boys hostel are seperate. The quality of food is average. Meals are served 3 times in a day including breakfast, lunch, and dinner. The hostel fees for single sharing are Rs. 2,40,000, double sharing is Rs. 2,10,000 and triple sharing is Rs. 1,80,000 per year with additional meal charges of Rs. 50,000. Laundry services and OTT services are available. CCTV footage is available 24/7 with high security. No one is allowed to leave hostel after 10:00 PM and daily attendance is taken before night.

My university is located in Ahmedabad. It is in the city center. It is in Navrangpura area. My university has 5 campuses. 4 campus are educational centers are 1 building is dedicated wholly for recreational activity. There are 4 blocks. One each for department of Commerce, Engineering, Arts and Heritage. The seating capacity of classroom is 75 people. My classroom has AV aids available. All the academic facilities like library, lab, conference hall, and auditorium are available. Apart from this, 4 canteens are there, many indoor and outdoor sports facilities like badminton, table tennis, football, basketball, table tennis and squash are available. There is medical support and gym too. University has high security 24/7. Paid transportation is also available. My favorite place in the university is the student lounge where we all friends and sit and talk.

My overall campus life has been really good. I am quite active in all the events happening in the university. The university crowd is good too. All the people come from rich background. There are many clubs and I am also a part of a university club. Many extracurricular activities are organised by the university including fests. It has been really engaging. After coming in University, I have become more independent, confident and have started coming out of my comfort zone.
